SUBJECT: PYLON RESTRAINT SPRING ASSEMBLY ROD


END SERIAL NUMBER, INTRODUCTION OF.

HELICOPTERS AFFECTED: Serial numbers 57001 through 57260.

[Serial number 57261 and subsequent will have the


intent of this bulletin accomplished prior to delivery.]

COMPLIANCE: No later than 31 May 2015

DESCRIPTION:

The airworthiness limitation schedule Table 4-1 of the BHT-429-MM-1 lists the 427-
010-210-105 pitch restraint rod end assembly. These rod end assemblies are not
serialized and are therefore difficult to track. This bulletin introduces the procedure to
permanently mark the forward rod end assembly 427-010-210-105 and the aft rod end
assembly 427-010-210-109 with the 429-010-204-101 pylon restraint spring assembly
serial number. Applicability of this bulletin to any spare part shall be determined prior
to its installation on an affected helicopter.

(TCCA) approved.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Prepare the helicopter for maintenance.

2. Remove the left and right transmission cowlings 600EL and 600ER. Refer to the
BHT-429-MM-1, Chapter 53.

3. Locate the serial number marked on the left and right pylon restraint spring
assembly 429-010-204-101 and record it.

4. Clean the areas of the pitch restraint rod end assemblies to be marked with
isopropyl alcohol C-285.

5. With a permanent fine point marker, identify the forward area of the forward pitch
restraint rod end assembly 427-010-210-105 with the applicable pylon restraint
spring assembly serial number previously recorded (Figure 1).

6. With a permanent fine point marker, identify the upper area of the aft rod end
assembly 427-010-210-109 with the applicable pylon restraint spring assembly
serial number previously recorded (Figure 2).

CAUTION

Do not allow the epoxy clear coat to contact the bearing


surfaces of the pitch restraint rod end assemblies.

7. Seal the areas marked in step 5 and step 6 with one coat of clear epoxy C-298.

8. Repeat steps 4 through 7 for the opposite side pitch restraint rod assembly.

9. Install the left and right transmission cowlings 600EL and 600ER. Refer to the
BHT-429-MM-1, Chapter 53.

10. Make an entry in the helicopter logbook and historical service records indicating
compliance with this Alert Service Bulletin.
