Know Why the Caged Bird Sings in order to learn about spoken word

poetry.. The assignment for this project was making an art piece that you

thought best represents and captures the poem in the best way. It could be

any art media we wanted and I ended up making a fabric doll from scratch.

I learned many things from both the poem and the construction of

my doll. Starting off with the poem I learned that there are many ways a

person can be physically, mentally, or spiritually trapped. It is important

for people around you to know and there are always two sides to a story.

The actual process of the doll, took me two days to finish. I learned new

skills throughout this project In order to make a doll, I had to learn how to

make hair out of yarn, how to sew and stitch, to make clothes out of pieces

of cloth, and to make detail all from scratch. With the new skills that I

learned, I am sure that they can enrich my life. I also learned how to have

patience and how to handle and make things that are three dimensional.

My doll had to do a lot with art, so that is one of the reasons that I

enjoyed making the doll. If I were to do this project again, I would leave

everything as it is. I would leave my doll the same. I think I gave my doll

my full effort and I had everything planned out the way I wanted my doll
to turn out. The logistics I planned out where exactly how it turned out. I

would leave my doll, like it is.

My doll connects to the SLE of Life Long Learner because during this

project I was able to learn so many new things that I have never done

before. I was able to apply my skills into learning a new one. My project

was effective and I used a variety of courses to accomplish my product.

Little by little as the year goes by, I have realized that I enjoy learning new

things that I know so I can have a quality life and enrich my life every time

I learn something. I am not scared of trying something new, as long as I

know that it will enrich my future.
