Electrical Fire Fighting

SCENARIO
Overloaded main distribution panel connected to service pumps causing electrical fire

OBJECTIVES
 To make a simulation on Electrical Fire which will be suppressed by Fire Fighting Team supplemented
on the BFP training last March 9, 2019 and with reference to Villanueva Fire Contingency Plan.
 To develop the skills of Fire Fighting Team (Hose Team & FEX Team) and gain experience on
electrical fire suppression.
 To identify setup time of each hydrant until the team starts suppressing the electrical fire.
 To identify and evaluate setup delays and problems may occur during the drill.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

 The drill will not be performed inside the Power Room for safety reasons. But it followed the exact floor
plan of the power room outlined at the basketball court to have a precise representation of the power
room during fire suppression.
 The drill focused on how to suppress electrical fire (incipient & growth stage) using fire extinguisher on
“incipient stage” and fire hose in “growth stage”.
 The drill for “growth stage” assumed that the power being supplied in the terminal was already cut-off
by the provider.

Hose team 1 and 2 get their Fireman’s Suit as the emergency bell rings.(starting in their respective
working areas - timer start)
Response and Setup Time

Connect hose in the Fire Hydrant 13 for Team 1 and Fire Hydrant 2 for Team 2
Team Start suppressing the fire (timer ends in aiming the hose in the Power House)
A whistle blow, mark as start to enter the power house
Electrical Fire Suppression Incipient
Find and turn off the Emergency Switch or Power Source (caution on grounded metals)
Drill Stage
Suppress fire using fire extinguisher (TPASS method)
