comparing fraction by using models with the greater than, smaller than and equal sign.

I can compare 2 fractions using models.

 In Grade 1, students used non-standard units (e.g. hand spans, paper clips, popsicle sticks) to
measure length of single objects. In Grade 2, the focus is to measure the length of more than
one object using non-standard units, and then compare the results to identify which is longer /
shorter.
 Students should use the words ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’ to compare objects.

Introduction
& Time
10 minutes  In the beginning of the lesson the teacher will review fractions by
using PowerPoint.
-  In the first slide will be 2/4 and the teacher will ask the students
randomly about which one is the numenature and which one is the
denumenature and where we put them.
 After that, the teacher will show other example, its show multiple
choice with the answer.
 The teacher will say “why we choose this answer?” and she will
choose students randomly and ask the student to explain the
example.

10 minutes.  The teacher will start the lesson by comparing the fractions by
using grater than, smaller than, and equal.
-  After that, the teacher will show slide that has an example with
pictures and the teacher will say “ the equal parts will be the
denumenature, and the numenature will be the parts that is
shaded, put the denumenature is should to be equals, and the
numenutre select the sine.”
 Next, the teacher will show other example for the students and
choose one students randomly to come and solve the questions.
(15 minutes)

Emergent Activity:
 In this activity the students will work in pairs.
 Each pairs will have whiteboard and 2 markers.
 After that, the first students will write one fraction and his partner will solve by putting
greater, smaller, equal sine.
 They will work by turn.
 So the other students will write one fraction and his partner will solve it.
Developing activity:
 The students will work in groups.
 Students will have many cards that repreasent fractions.
 The students have to put for each 2 fraction equal, smaller, greater sine.

Mastered Activity :
 The students will work in groups.
 The students will have many cards that repreasents fractions and they have to match each
2 togather.
 And make the sine with color papers.

Differentiation activities (Stretch)


 Finish early: the teacher will give the students worksheets.
