Summative Citizenship Reflection

Reflect on your four years of community service. In a thoughtful paragraph, discuss what you
did, what you learned about yourself, the value of community service, future careers or interests,
collaboration, workplace environments, Cloverdale, Sonoma County, and/or how the experience
of community service has impacted you.

These past three years I had been involved with Cloverdale Key Club, as an officer,
dedicating about 18 - 26+ hours a week to service within my club, community service, division
or district meetings, service for the Kiwanis Family House, similar to the Ronald McDonald
House, and service within the Kiwanis Club. My work with Key Club has contributed to my
growth in leadership and management. Within my four years of Key Club, my focus was on
developing other minds into becoming more involved and leading them into the right process of
development for them and the club (This allowing them to learn how to take care of the club,
when it is time for senior officers to step down). I have also been involved with student
government and ASB for four years, from which I learned I had a huge interest in event
planning. Through my involvement of Key Club and ASB I learned the value of community
service. Helping the community has huge positive effects for the people in the community as
well. When we help at our local food pantry, we are helping the people who are in need of food
services. The little deeds we do have a positive reflection on our community. Community service
has been a big impact on me, it has taught me not to take things for granted. There are people
who do not have the luxury we do, and giving them a little help can make a smile on their face.

Have you registered to vote? Why or why not?

I have not yet registered to vote, because it scares me. I want to register to vote when I think I am
ready and prepared.

What are some ways that you plan to be an active citizen of this town, state, and/or country in
your adult life?
I plan to continue helping out the community, hopefully, in the future work a few hours with the
community's library, and be involved in activities/traditions community members may do to help
out the community.
