The Sustainable Development Goals is a list of goals dedicated to the bettering of

countries, while simultaneously protecting the environment and the health of our planet. The list

consists of many important goals; however the most important goal is the one that involves the

access to a quality education. This is the most important goal because with the access to quality

education the majority of the other Sustainable Development Goals could be accomplished. For

example, goal #8 (Decent work and Economic growth) could be helped by the newly opened

positions required for a quality education, and the goals that involve recycling (#7, #11, #12,

#14, and #15) could all be helped with the added education about the benefits of using

recyclable resources and the harmful effects of excess plastic use. The statistic, “More than half

of children and adolescents worldwide are not meeting minimum proficiency standards in

reading and mathematics,” is important to note because it shows just how many people don’t

have the access to materials to better their community as a whole (UN 4). Finding a way to get

these kids the materials to educate themselves, will help develop ways to make a difference in

the other goals on the UN’s list. After reviewing and researching all of the different options, it

can be concluded that goal #4 (Quality Education) on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

is the most important pursuit on the list due to numerous reasons that will better the UN’s

economy, future, and societal beliefs.
