Description of Artifact (*The personal artifact may be anything that demonstrates growth, skills, interests, discoveries, and/or abilities
from your experience this last year -- can be school-related or not.)

The month of February 2019, I began my job shadow with a public relations manager and a
media content manager at Coppola. I followed Coppola’s PR around, looked around the
warehouse, met a few people with different responsibilities, attended meeting with the Vice
President, media content manager, and the public relations manager, and I worked on tasks
assigned by the team. My task was to look up social media profiles from different companies and
design a spreadsheet with their numbers and the overall total of followers.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts?

I chose this artifact because it shows interest towards my college career path. I am very fulfilled
to have had the opportunity to work with Coppola’s team and gather a wonderful experience that
correlates to my interests and college career.

How did your experience with this artifact change or impact you?
I don’t see any change, however, I do see impact as it will or could help me in my path to my
career. I’ve gained experience with college graduates who have earned their careers and
expertise.

Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the course of working on this artifact?
Explain.
Yes, throughout the month of February I had to manage my time, and pick certain dates and
times, and be present. I had to be responsible in finding a way to get there and make sure I got
there in time. I had to be responsible in getting my tasks done, and learning as much as I could
from the time I was there.

Provide an example of how the skills you practiced or the knowledge you gained via this artifact

The skills and experience/knowledge gained from the artifact may be used in the career I am
interested in, in ways such as getting into marketing for a wine company, or working as a public
relations manager.

This year I completed my last year of Upward Bound. Upward Bound has been a huge help for
me. They have guided me through high school, taught me new skills, and have helped me grown
as a student. Now I am a better note taker, I take notes the way that will help me understand, I
have also learned to be well organized and self-management along with other skills.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts?

I chose Upward Bound because UB is a program dedicated to help prepare low income/ first
generation students for college. I have been in the program for four years, all throughout
high-school and summer. Being a part of the program has helped me grow as a better student,
and it is something I am proud of.

How did your experience with this artifact change or impact you?

Being a part of Upward Bound taught me many different skills that will be important and have
been important throughout high school, and outside of high school as well. I am successful today
because of the help of UB.

Working with Upward Bound has definitely helped with self-management and responsibility.
Having to be at a bus stop every day at 6:30 in the morning, going to school 4 days a week
during the summer has definitely been an impact on me. Having school during the summer has
kept me engaged, and kept me from possibly getting in the habit of wanting to slack on
homework, or not wanting to go to school.

Provide an example of how the skills you practiced or the knowledge you gained via this artifact
may also be used in a career in which you are interested.

The skills I’ve practiced will help me in the future, because my self-management and
responsibility skills have grown even further; this will help me be on-time, managing tasks,
working well with others, and organization.
