INTRODUCTION
Quotes are great because they take the noise out of communication. Simple and to the point,
they quickly show you what you may already know, but ignore, or hit you in the face with reality.

For better or worse, a quote has the power to take a person’s whole life and boil it down to one
powerful passage for us to remember. But knowing something isn't the same as acting on it.
Knowledge without action won't get you where you want to be. Learn, or be reminded and then
ACT. You'll then learn more.

These risk taking inspirational quotes acknowledge that life is full of risks and that no outcome is
ever 100% certain. No matter what you do, you have to take risks. But although nothing is ever
guaranteed, taking calculated risks is the only way to move forward and advance your life.

You can’t progress and grow if fear of the unknown prevents you from making the commitment,
and taking the leap of faith while leaving your comfort zone. You simply cannot live your most
fulfilling life if you choose not to take chances in life. There is never a perfect time for you to take
action.

Here are some powerful quotes about taking risks that we hope will inspire you to take that leap
of faith with courage to forge through the unknown, so that not only does it become familiar, but
you develop the competence and ultimately the confidence knowing you can do it well.

In deciding whether to take the risk, we want to be aware of a reality in life that has been an
accepted principle for many years. It is often referred to as the 4 C’s.

Essentially, for anyone to achieve a major breakthrough in life, regardless of their successes in
the past, everyone must go through a series of stages when endeavoring to engage in a new
activity, project, skill, job, or ability. It matters not how much money you have, your past history,
your education or what you wish would happen…you must go through these 4 stages if you are
to achieve a major breakthrough.

Here it is: The 1st C represents commitment. You must decide and agree with a promise to
yourself (and possibly others as well) that you are committed to learning and doing this new
thing which you have never done before. Thus, you commit to a result.

The 2nd C represents courage. This is the most difficult of all the stages, because you will be in
unknown territory, doing something that right now despite your commitment, you don’t know
how to do it and you don’t know if you are going to be able to do it well.

All of us admire, appreciate and applaud courage in others, but we don’t like to act with only
courage since it is uncomfortable, creating anxiety and uncertainty. Unfortunately, you can’t
skip this stage, though many have tried.
You must have the courage to move forward despite it being outside your “comfort zone” to
learn and practice at this new skill, job, process, even hobby, despite this uncertainty if you are
to achieve a major breakthrough.

The 3rd C represents capability or competence. This happens after and as a result of your
commitment and courage that has carried you to the point of being competent as needed to
perform this new skill. You are now competent in doing this formerly new thing.

The 4th C stands for confidence. When you have achieved the competence to do something
you have never done before and didn’t know whether you would be able to do it and do it well,
and you have now achieved your result, your reward is confidence. And with that confidence
you no longer need to rely solely on courage as in the second stage, because you know you are
able to do this skill well. That’s when you have a major breakthrough.

May these quotes inspire you to take risks in life so that you may be the person you truly want to
be.

from facing challenges and going out on a limb and taking risks. If you’re not willing to take a
risk for something you really care about, you might as well be dead. – Diane Frolov

To be a good human being is to have a kind of openness to the world—an ability to trust
uncertain things beyond your own control—that can lead you to be shattered in very extreme
circumstances for which you were not to blame. That says something very important about the
condition of the ethical life: that it is based on a trust in the uncertain and on a willingness to be
exposed; it’s based on being more like a plant than like a jewel—something rather fragile, but
whose very particular beauty is inseparable from that fragility. – Martha Nussbaum

in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs
and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who
spends himself in a worthy cause. Who—at the best—knows in the end the triumph of high
achievement, and who—at the worst—at least fails while daring greatly so that his place shall
never be with those timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. – Theodore Roosevelt

You were born a winner, a warrior, one who defied the odds by surviving the most gruesome
battle of them all - the race to the egg. And now that you are a giant, why do you even doubt

Life is sacrifice and risk-taking, and nothing that doesn't entail some moderate amount of the
former, under the constraint of satisfying the latter, is close to what we can call life. If you do not
undertake a risk of real harm, reparable or even potentially irreparable, from an adventure, it is
not an adventure. ― Nassim Nicholas Taleb

THE PENALTY OF NOT TAKING THE CHANCE

“In my terms, I settled for the realities of life, and submitted to its necessities: if this, then that,
and so the years passed. In Adrian's terms, I gave up on life, gave up on examining it, took it as
it came. And so, for the first time, I began to feel a more general remorse - a feeling somewhere
between self-pity and self-hatred - about my whole life. All of it. I had lost the friends of my
youth. I had lost the love of my wife. I had abandoned the ambitions I had entertained. I had
wanted life not to bother me too much, and had succeeded - and how pitiful that was.
― Julian Barnes, The Sense of an Ending

NOT WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK

Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else’s.
— Billy Wilder

So long as the man with ambition is a failure, the world will tell him to let go of his ideal; but
when his ambition is realized, the world will praise him for the persistence and the determination
that he manifested during his dark hours, and everybody will point to his life as an example for
coming generations. This is invariably the rule. Therefore pay no attention to what the world
says when you are down. Be determined to get up, to reach the highest goal you have in view,
and you will.
― Christian D. Larson
Mitch Ditkoff has taken several risks in his life. He once accepted a job as a cook in a
restaurant with absolutely no experience. He started a successful innovation consultancy with a
single idea, one friend, and no money. He got married to a woman who could see through him,
started a business blues band that CNN ended up doing a feature story on, lived in an ashram
for five years, and has spoken before audiences of up to 10,000 people.

FINDING YOUR SOULMATE

To say that one waits a lifetime for his soulmate to come around is a paradox. People eventually
get sick of waiting, take a chance on someone, and by the art of commitment become
soulmates, which takes a lifetime to perfect.
― Criss Jami, Venus in Arms

All I know is that I've wasted all these years looking for something, a sort of trophy I'd get only if
I really, really did enough to deserve it. But I don't want it anymore, I want something else now,
something warm and sheltering, something I can turn to, regardless of what I do, regardless of
who I become. Something that will just be there, always, like tomorrow's sky. That's what I want
now, and I think it's what you should want too. But it will be too late soon. We'll become too set
to change. If we don't take our chance now, another may never come for either of us.
― Kazuo Ishiguro, When We Were Orphans

But if you're gonna dine with them cannibals, sooner or later, darling, you're gonna get eaten . .
.― Nick Cave

AMBITION

At the age of six I wanted to be a cook. At seven I wanted to be Napoleon. And my ambition has
been growing steadily ever since. ― Salvador Dali

I used to think as I looked out on the Hollywood night — there must be thousands of girls sitting
alone like me, dreaming of becoming a movie star. But I'm not going to worry about them. I'm
dreaming the hardest. ― Marilyn Monroe

“Oh, it's delightful to have ambitions. I'm so glad I have such a lot. And there never seems to be
any end to them-- that's the best of it. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see
another one glittering higher up still. It does make life so interesting.”
― L. M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
MEN
Most men either compromise or drop their greatest talents and start running after, what they
perceive to be, a more reasonable success, and somewhere in between they end up with a
discontented settlement. Safety is indeed stability, but it is not progression.
― Criss Jami, Killosophy

FEMINISM
We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We say to girls, you can have
ambition, but not too much. You should aim to be successful, but not too successful. Otherwise,
you would threaten the man. Because I am female, I am expected to aspire to marriage. I am
expected to make my life choices always keeping in mind that marriage is the most important.
Now marriage can be a source of joy and love and mutual support but why do we teach girls to
aspire to marriage and we don’t teach boys the same? We raise girls to see each other as
competitors not for jobs or accomplishments, which I think can be a good thing, but for the
attention of men. We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings in the way that boys are. ―
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, We Should All Be Feminists

NATURE & WILDLIFE

An afternoon drive from Los Angeles will take you up into the high mountains, where eagles
circle above the forests and the cold blue lakes, or out over the Mojave Desert, with its weird
vegetation and immense vistas. Not very far away are Death Valley, and Yosemite, and
Sequoia Forest with its giant trees which were growing long before the Parthenon was built;
they are the oldest living things in the world. One should visit such places often, and be
conscious, in the midst of the city, of their surrounding presence. For this is the real nature of
California and the secret of its fascination; this untamed, undomesticated, aloof, prehistoric
landscape which relentlessly reminds the traveller of his human condition and the
circumstances of his tenure upon the earth. "You are perfectly welcome," it tells him, "during
your short visit. Everything is at your disposal. Only, I must warn you, if things go wrong, don't
blame me. I accept no responsibility. I am not part of your neurosis. Don't cry to me for safety.
There is no home here. There is no security in your mansions or your fortresses, your family
vaults or your banks or your double beds. Understand this fact, and you will be free. Accept it,
and you will be happy.― Christopher Isherwood, Exhumations

WITH WHOM SHOULD YOU SURROUND YOURSELF

Surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams, encourage your ideas, support your
ambitions, and bring out the best in you. ― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

Surround Yourself with Positive People Who Believe in Your Dreams. Distance yourself from
negative people who try to lower your motivation and decrease your ambition. Create space for
positive people to come into your life.Surround yourself with positive people who believe in your
dreams, encourage your ideas, support your ambitions, and bring out the best in you.
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
Depending on Others/ Worrying About What Other Think

What do you mean I have to wait for someone's approval? I'm someone. I approve. So I give
myself permission to move forward with my full support!
― Richelle E. Goodrich, Smile Anyway

Don’t listen to those who say ‘you taking too big a chance.’ Michelangelo would have painted
the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out by today. Most important, don’t listen when
the little voice of fear inside you rears its ugly head and says ‘they all smarter than you out
there. They’re more talented, they’re taller, blonder, prettier, luckier, and they have
connections.” I firmly believe that if you follow a path that interests you, not to the exclusion of
love, sensitivity, and cooperation with others, but with the strength of conviction that you can
move others by your own efforts—and do not make success or failure the criteria by which you
live—the chances are you’ll be a person worthy of your own respects. – Neil Simon

RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL

“The truest of all truths is this: You are a child of God. Out of more than six billion people on
earth now, He knows your name, what you fear and what you revere. He cares about the things
you care about. He wants your happiness and success, and will reach to the farthest corner of
the universe to see that you obtain your noblest dreams.” ― Toni Sorenson

FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

People need not fear the unknown if they have a capable of achieving what they need and what
― Paulo Coelho

FUNNY
“This is the age of the specialist, and years ago Rollo had settled on his career. Even as a boy,
hardly capable of connected thought, he had been convinced that his speciality, the one thing
he could do really well, was to inherit money.”
― P.G. Wodehouse, The Man Upstairs and Other Stories
