University of Chicago College Advising Corps at Wells High School in Chicago, IL July 2016-May 2018
College Adviser
• Advised 100% of senior students in a 98% low-income Chicago public high school through the postsecondary process,
with the goal of increasing low-income, first-generation and underrepresented students enrolling in college
• Assisted students in making well-informed school choices to ensure retention through data evaluation on GRACE,
Advising Corps’ data-entry platform
• Achieved 92% FAFSA completion for eligible students in the Class of 2018
• Collaborated with the postsecondary team, teaching staff and administration to create school-wide initiatives to
strengthen the college-going culture and college knowledge
• Planned and implemented workshops, parent nights, college fairs, campus visits and Decision Day celebrations
• Awarded the University of Chicago Cowell-Markert Award for Generosity and Patience
