Target group
This publication is intended for machine operators using EPLAN.
There is also basic information for administrators who, for example, install EPLAN Add-In.
Benefits
A SINAMICS topology configured in EPLAN can be used in Create MyConfig Topo.
The SINAMICS topology is exported to EPLAN electric P8 as a file via the "Siemens DQ-Topo"
Add-In. This output file is imported for further use in Create MyConfig Topo. The data already
configured for the production of a machine can therefore continue to be used with immediate
effect in CMC.
Standard scope
This documentation only describes the functionality of the standard scope. Additions or
revisions made by the machine manufacturer are documented by the machine manufacturer.
Other functions not described in this documentation might be executable in the control. This
does not, however, represent an obligation to supply such functions with a new control or when
servicing.
Furthermore, for the sake of clarity, this documentation does not contain all detailed information
about all product types and cannot cover every conceivable case of installation, operation or
maintenance.
Technical Support
Country-specific telephone numbers for technical support are provided in the Internet at the

1.1.1.1 Danger to life if the safety instructions and residual risks are not observed
WARNING
Danger to life if the safety instructions and residual risks are not observed
If the safety instructions and residual risks in the associated hardware documentation are not
observed, accidents involving severe injuries or death can occur.
● Observe the safety instructions given in the hardware documentation.
● Consider the residual risks for the risk evaluation.
WARNING
Malfunctions of the machine as a result of incorrect or changed parameter settings
As a result of incorrect or changed parameterization, machines can malfunction, which in turn
can lead to injuries or death.
● Protect the parameterization (parameter assignments) against unauthorized access.
● Handle possible malfunctions by taking suitable measures, e.g. emergency stop or
emergency off.
Note
Industrial security
Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that support the
secure operation of plants, systems, machines and networks.
In order to protect plants, systems, machines and networks against cyber threats, it is
necessary to implement – and continuously maintain – a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial
security concept. Siemens products and solutions only represent one component of such a
concept.
The customer is responsible for preventing unauthorized access to its plants, systems,
machines and networks. Systems, machines and components should only be connected to
the enterprise network or the internet if and to the extent necessary and with appropriate
security measures (e.g. use of firewalls and network segmentation) in place.
Additionally, Siemens’ guidance on appropriate security measures should be taken into
account. For more information about industrial security, please visit:
Industrial security (http://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity).
Siemens’ products and solutions undergo continuous development to make them more secure.
Siemens strongly recommends to apply product updates as soon as available and to always
use the latest product versions. Use of product versions that are no longer supported, and
failure to apply latest updates may increase customer’s exposure to cyber threats.
To stay informed about product updates, subscribe to the Siemens Industrial Security RSS
Feed at:
Industrial security (http://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity).
WARNING
Unsafe operating states resulting from software manipulation
Software manipulations (e.g. viruses, trojans, malware or worms) can cause unsafe operating
states in your system that may lead to death, serious injury, and property damage.
● Keep the software up to date.
● Incorporate the automation and drive components into a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial
security concept for the installation or machine.
● Make sure that you include all installed products into the holistic industrial security concept.
● Protect files stored on exchangeable storage media from malicious software by with
suitable protection measures, e.g. virus scanners.
EPLAN versions
This documentation applies to the EPLAN Add-In version V1.9.
The EPLAN Add-In has been released for EPLAN electric P8 versions 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5.
The functionality of the Add-In is identical in all EPLAN versions. The only exception is the
definition of the PLC bus properties. The differences in the definition of the bus properties are
in the EPLAN software.
Requirement
You require two licenses to use the EPLAN Add-In:
● One license to load and use the EPLAN Add-In in the platform "EPLAN Electric P8" and
create the export file from EPLAN.
● A further license to import the export file from EPLAN with the DRIVE-CLiQ topology to
Create MyConfig Topo.
4. Select the file "Siemens.EplAddIn.DQTopo.dll" from the directory into which you unpacked
the EPLAN Add-In.
5.2 Settings
Note
A valid catalog path is indicated by a red border to the path.
The current catalog version is displayed via the "Display catalog version" button.
Note
Take the "*.uvdx" file extension into account
The DO list has the "*.uvdx" file extension.
If the path for the DO list has an incorrect file extension, this is indicated by a red border to the
path.
Please note that a data type will be saved even if it is incorrect.
2. Enter the path to the DO list manually starting from the project directory.
Procedure
Proceed as follows:
1. Click the "Define unknown devices" button.
The dialog with the same name opens.
The connections to be defined are read from the SINAMICS product catalog based on
similar device types from SIEMENS.
Possible port types are:
– Analog for encoder connection
– DRIVE-CLiQ
– Current
After "Save and close" of the dialogs, including the "Settings…" main dialog, the EPLAN
article database is updated with the device types.
Note
Updating changes in the project
In order that the changed "Settings…" can be used in the available projects, the changes must
be compared to the EPLAN article database and then taken into the project.
Note
Take the EPLAN version into account
The EPLAN Add-In supports the evaluation and the export of the bus data as of EPLAN version
2.4.
Requirement
Note
Bus data - Internal/external PROFIBUS connection
Note that the bus data for the internal PROFIBUS connection of the NXs on the NCU is not
configured because it has already been permanently defined.
Configure the external PROFINET connection and the PROFINET interface.
● Position / Node ID: The position of the master on the respective bus.
● Property name "MasterSystemID": Bus number
Procedure
You define the bus data in the "Properties (components): PLC connection points and bus ports"
dialog > "Bus data" tab.
1. Select an object in EPLAN, e.g. a port.
2. Double-click the object. The "Properties (components): PLC connection points and bus
ports" dialog opens.
3. Select the "Bus data" tab.
4. Define the bus data. Information on this is provided in the following examples for the NCU
connections.
5. Confirm the changes via the "OK" button.
Note
X150 connections
Only one of the two "X150" connections has to be configured because logically they represent
the same PROFINET interface.
If both connections are configured, the configurations must match.
Additional information
An additional component of the "CU link" type is displayed for each expandable master module .
Note
Assign a drive object component to all components of a device.
Messages that refer to the component distribution and set DRIVE-CLiQ type of a device are
displayed below the device:
Figure 5-13 Assigning warnings and messages to drive objects - excerpt from "Assign drive objects"
dialog, left-hand side
Figure 5-14 Structure of the DO list - excerpt from "Assign drive objects" dialog, right-hand side
All drive objects (DO) are listed on the first level. When a DO is selected, the associated
components are listed.
1. Select the required drive object (DO) in the "Assign drive objects" window on the right-hand
side.
2. Click "DO name".
The component list belonging to the DO opens.
3. Select the required DO component and drag it to the required component line below the
device on the left-hand side
The "Assigned drive object" and the "Assigned component" are displayed immediately.
4. After completing the assignment, you can confirm the changes via the "Apply" or "Save and
close" button or reject them with the "Cancel" button.
When the assignment has been accepted, the DO name and the component name are
displayed in the preconfigured EPLAN property field for the appropriated devices.
DO and component are displayed separated by a ">", e.g. "NCU710>NCU_01". If there are
a number of subcomponents, they are separated by a semicolon.
5. If you want to delete an assignment, select the appropriate line of the device component
and delete it via the "Del" key.
6. If you what to delete all assignments of a drive object, select the drive object and press the
"Del" key.
Character XML

● If the DO name includes the ">" separator, enter it as previously defined in the table.
5.5.1 Requirement
The equipment parts list forms the basis for export with the following requirements:
● Select precisely one function as main function for each item designation.
● Store at least one article for each main function.
● Define a DRIVE-CLiQ type.
Examples
Note
Creating an export file
To create a complete export file, note that the following requirements must be satisfied:
● The drive objects have been assigned to the EPLAN devices
You will find information on this in Section Assigning drive objects (Page 28).
● The bus data has been configured
You will find information in Section Defining bus data (Page 22).
7. The "Open log file" button opens the log of the export operation.
8. You can correct any listed errors or warnings.
You will find further information on this in Section Messages (Page 43).
Note
"Without DO list" / "With DO list" options
With the "Without DO list" export, the DO assignment must be performed in Create MyConfig.
For this purpose, the DO list can also be read in separately in Create MyConfig Topo in addition
to the "*.sdx".
If the "With DO list" option is used for the export, the DO list must be under the set path and
must be valid. The DO list is then imported into Create MyConfig Topo.
Procedure
To exclude a device from the export, proceed as follows:
1. In the Add-In directory, open the file with the extension
"Siemens.EplAddin.DQTopo.dll.eplan.config".
This file is always automatically generated when a configuration is saved.
2. After opening the file, search for the appropriate key in the "ConfigurableFilterFunctions"
tag.
Introduction
You can also start the EPLAN Add-In via a non-graphical user interface. The required
command line parameters are transferred via a console. With successful execution of the
action, the return value is "0".
Command syntax
The EPLAN command line interface has the following syntax:
$Path $GeneralParameters $ActionName $ProjectName $OutputFile
$ExportDOList
Master modules
The DRIVE-CLiQ types (EPLAN database field) listed below are recognized as master
modules:
Note
Evaluation error in DRIVE-CLiQ topology
If an error is recognized in the DRIVE-CLiQ topology, e.g. ring closure or duplicate wiring, the
sub-topology is not output as of the corresponding control unit (NX or NCU).
HLA modules
Note the following during configuration of HLA modules:
● The analog connection of the HLA valve, which is connected to the HLA module, must have
the name "X2".
● Represent the connection between the valve and the cylinder with standard power
connections. The name of the connection is "X1".
HF modules
Note the following during configuration of HF modules:
● Configure the cross rail between the sine filter and damping module using a power
connection. "Rail" is used as the connection name.
● As the cross rail between HF motor module and damping module is connected by DRIVE-
CLiQ, no further configuration is required.
● S1
● T1
Note
Item designation that EPLAN does not recognize
There is no search for the following item designations:
● Item designation X24, +, M (Single Motor Module)
● X124, i.e. not a power supply connection for SINAMICS CPU in the export file "example.sdx"
Figure 6-1 "PLC structure data" tab, entry for "CPU: Name [1]"
When using an ancillary equipment unit for device representation, enter the tag "DeviceName"
in the field "Function text" under the "Ancillary equipment unit" tab.
