For the full Microsoft Teams experience, every user should be enabled for Exchange Online,
SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Office 365 Group creation.

Exchange Hybrid requirements

Exchange Server and eDiscovery
• eDiscovery is always done against Exchange Online
• Channel messages are stored in group mailbox which is always online
• Chat messages need to be stored in a user mailbox
• Enabling eDiscovery for Teams users with Exchange on-premises mailbox
• Users need cloud equivalent of mailbox for chat eDiscovery
• Feature can be enabled via support process
• Once enabled, Teams will create cloud equivalent mailbox and use for chat
• Content will remain intact if mailbox is migrated from on-premises to online
Configuring Voicemail With Exchange
