General Instructions for the Summer Industrial Training

Attention: B.Tech. III Year Students

The summer industrial training is an important component of undergraduate

technical education and carries a weightage 50 marks. A written report is
required by a student which is then evaluated by a group of faculty along
with a seminar presentation by the student. I am enclosing a format and
guidelines to help you write the training report.

Write the Report:

 The format for the training report is enclosed. Please follow the
format of the report as much as is possible.
 For your guidance a format for the contents of the report is given. The
contents can be modified depending on the nature of industry or your
academic department and the nature of your practical training.
 It is now expected that you have made short notes about your daily
activities and have drawn neat sketches of the machines, production
processes, factory layout and software development process etc.
 Write the report taking the help from your daily notes, sketches of the
machines, production processes, software development etc.
 At the end of the report, you must write the benefits from the summer
practical training.
 Please remember that first four pages are to be typed and the
remaining report should be a mix of hand written notes and
typed along with details of project(if any) undertaken with its
conclusive remarks and you must in particular emphasize on
benefits from the practical training.
 The report along with your daily notes, are to be submitted in the
department, by August 16, 2018.
 The training will be evaluated through a presentation. The schedule
of training presentation will be announced by the department.

With best wishes

Limited) was promoted as a Joint Sector Company by Mohta Industries Limited
(MIL) and Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation Limited, (PSIDC),
and was incorporated in the name of Punjab Mohta Polytex Limited.

In 1988, Mahavir Spinning Mills Limited (MSML) took over with approval of
Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) a mini steel plant by the
name of Mohta Alloys and Steel Works at Ludhiana belonging to Mohta Industries
Limited, a sick Company under Section 15(1) of SICA, 1985.

VPL, in 1990-91, added a new Worsted Spinning Unit at Ludhiana with a capacity

acrylic/wool blends. The capacity of the plant now stands increased to 8000
spindles.

The Company is presently engaged in manufacture of coarse, medium and fine

counts of 100% cotton yarn, 100% acrylic yarn, acrylic/cotton yarn, polyester/
cotton yarn and tyre cord yarns. The Company has at present three units located at

 Production Department.
 Maintenance Department.
 Labour Department.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT:-

Company manufacture cotton yarn.

Yarn is a long continuous length of interlocked fibres, suitable for use in the
production of textiles, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, embroidery, or
ropemaking.[1] Thread is a type of yarn intended for sewing by hand or machine.
Modern manufactured sewing threads may be finished with wax or other lubricants
to withstand the stresses involved in sewing.[2] Embroidery threads are yarns
specifically designed for hand or machine embroidery.

Etymology
The word yarn comes from Middle English, from the Old English gearn, akin to Old High
German's garn yarn, Greek's chordē string, and Sanskrit's hira band.

Yarn can be made from a number of natural or synthetic fibers. Many types of yarn are
made differently though. There are two main types of yarn: spun and filament.

The most common plant fiber is cotton, which is typically[3] spun into fine yarn
for mechanical weaving or knitting into cloth.
PRODUCTION PROCESS:-

Flow chart (Spinning):-

Unifloak → Vrioclean→ Unimix→ Hexiclean→ Loptex → Carding →

Breaker Diframe → Lap Former → Comber → Finisher Diframe →
Roving Frame/Simplex → Ring Frame → Link Coner → Siezer →
Packing → Dispatching.
QUALITY CONTROL:-

The Quality Control in Vardhman Polytex Limited, Nalagarh is testing of final

product . Testing is done by R&D Department , where yarn is tested .

In R&D lab various calculations and measurements of final yarn is done . There
are various steps done by R&D department such as –measuring strength of yarn
,force bearing capacity etc.

Quality Control is the process of testing final product and check out errors in final
product .If there is any fault in product then R&D department rejects the product.

Quality improvement is an ongoing process. In- depth application understanding

from our experts and feedback from users allow spinning mills to adjust the raw
material mix, optimise processes and improve yarn quality.

The spinning mills can make better decisions based on data and analysis. So
quality control is very important for all the companies.
BENEFITS FROM THE TRAINING:-

BENEFITS:-

The main reason engineering students need to do Industrial Training is so they are
well prepared for a graduate job in their chosen field.

It is a chance for us to put what we have learned at university to work in the kind
of real-life situations we will come up against when we start our career.

Industrial training gives us great experience during our Bachelor of Engineering

degree including:

 First-hand experience working as an engineering professional

 Apply your technical knowledge and engineering methods to a real-life

situations
 Work with other engineering professionals

 Experience what it’s like to work in a professional organization

 Increase your technical, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral

and written

 Observe interactions of engineers with other professional groups

 Witness the functioning and organisation of business and companies

Be attractive to Engineering employers:-

Many employers use industry work experience as a prerequisite for new graduates.
Employers also use this period as a chance to assess new employees for future
employment.
If we can demonstrate the ability to take responsibility, make sound decisions and
apply technical skills – we will stand out as someone that might be great for their
organisation.

In reverse, we will also have the opportunity to evaluate the company for ourself to
see if it’s somewhere we might wish to work. At the very least, we can make better
decisions about whether or not we will enjoy that field of engineering.

Industrial Training is an industrial program which helps the candidates to

implement their academic knowledge into a professional commandment. The
freshers can consider it as a kick start of their career with a work experience.

During 1 month industrial training, the candidates can get the best platform
where they can leverage their ability and talents by working under the guidance of
professionals.

 Industrial training is a platform where a b.tech student can learn company’s

technology etc , and can apply theory into practice.
