Jerry Ketchum
Morrell
Ketchum, St. Marie,
passed away February
13, 2019. He was born
to Morrell and Patricia
(Neumann) Ketchum
on February 13, 1950
in Miles City, Montana.
Jerry’s father died in
1963 and his uncles Bob
Neumann and Stanley Ketchum were great help as he
grew up at Baker and Mildred. After graduating from
Terry High School he began a career in the military.
Jerry served in the USMC from 1968 to 1972 and
in the Navy from 1973 to 1992 with much of his duty
“at sea” on submarines and cruisers. While home in
1973, he met DeAnn Diede and they were married in
Edzell, Scotland in 1974. They lived in Scotland, Japan,
Hawaii and on the East, West and Gulf Coasts before
Jerry retired as Chief Warrant Officer 3.
Jerry’s life in St. Marie was filled with hands-on
community tasks as well as serving on locally elected
boards. In July 1995, he began a long and fun career
at D & G Sports & Western in Glasgow. He enjoyed
Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture activities,
hunting and trap, skeet and black powder shooting.
Jerry is survived by his wife, DeAnn, brother, Tom
(Robyn) Ketchum, sisters, Vera (Don) Kuehn and Lonna
Ketchum, brother-in-law, Mike Niles, and all their
families. His sister, Yvonne Niles, parents, grandparents
and sister-in-law, Deb Ketchum, preceded him in death.
Friends of Jerry are invited to stop by the VFW
Post #3107 in Glasgow on Saturday, May 11th between
11:30 and 1:30 for lunch and a visit. A brief tribute is
planned for 11:30.

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is
assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old
canons and laws of the church by hand.
He notices, however, that all of the monks are
copying from copies, not from the original manuscript.
So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this,
pointing out that if someone made even a small error in
the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that
error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.
The head monk, says, “We have been copying from
the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my
son.”
He goes down into the dark caves underneath the
monastery where the original manuscripts are held as
archives in a locked vault that hasn’t been opened for
hundreds of years.
Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot . . ..
So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to
look for him. He sees him banging his head against the
wall and wailing.
