Silliman please explain? From 110 pesos for a 3hr subject, it went up to 330.48? Why? How? Also considering
the fact that CBA is now using Solar Panels? Also, please explain why CBA is experiencing power cut offs
while the other colleges don't?
And why are you using 18 weeks? We only have 2 meetings per week in the classroom. If you do the
calculations:
(330.48 × 30 students) ÷ (6 hrs × 18 weeks)= 91.8/hr
(165.24 × 35 students) ÷ (3 hrs × 18 weeks)= 107.1/hr
(140.40 × 50 students) ÷ (3 hrs × 18 weeks)= 130/hr
In ani na diay ka mahal ang per hour sa kuryente run? Also, mas daghan man mi ga tunga sa FA namu na class,
so ngano mas mahal ra ghapon sya? Nya 18 weeks? Wala pna na consider ang days na walay klase, samot na
during Hibalag. And then, dba dpat apil na sa Miscellaneous unta na fees ang sa aircon? So ngano wala?
How much diay ang per kwh run? Hahaha omg. Abi ba nako ga cost cutting mo? 😂 😂

**the number of students are based on the classes I'm attending

I know the SUSG is busy with the strike and everything else but can you please voice out the concerns of the
foreigners too? Last year, I was very shocked when the administration suddenly increased the tuition for all
foreigners to 30 percent without prior notice. My Filipino classmates paid about 80k while my Nigerian
classmates and I had to pay 110k for the same subjects and services provided to us. It would have been fine if
they charged us a foreigner student fee since other schools do that too and I have been paying a foreigner
student fee since elemetary school in Silliman.
But what I want to know is, why do we have to pay 30 percent more for services that are equally given to all
students like the wifi, library, and ID sticker and still pay 5k for foreigner student fee?
Last school year, a representative of the foreigners gathered signatures and wrote a letter directly to the
Silliman President but after saying the school will hold a meeting with all foreigners to answer our questions
and address our concerns, nothing happened.
I have been living in Dumaguete for about 21 years and I have been studying at Silliman since preschool. I
love the city, the people and our school but this is very unfair for us foreigners. Actually, I don't even know if I
consider myself as a foreigner since I have been living here almost all my life and yet I have to pay so much
just because I don't have a Filipino passport. Just because we are foreigners, we are not rich. My parents are
missionaries and they also struggle like any other parents to send me and my two sisters to school especially
more so now since the tuition increased.
The foreigners not only pay a bigger tuition but we also have to apply for a student visa which costs tens of
thousands for the first application (visa fee, airplane ticket to Manila, etc.) and the yearly extension is about
14k.
The picture below is from the breakdown of my tuition last year compared to my classmate's (in blue).
For this semester, I am taking up two subjects but my tuition is almost 59k while my classmates taking up
three subjects pay 50k.
I know I'm ranting here but I just wish something could be done about this. My friends know I have been
complaining about this since last year. The SUFA strike reminded me of it so I just wanted to let it out.
