Pay your fee

You can pay with a debit card online at the same time you fill out an application. This
also applies if you are applying to extend your authorization. Remember that your debit
card must be activated to complete an online payment. Contact your bank if you want
more information.
You can pay via bank transfer after you have filed your online application or applied
with a form. You can pay the fee via bank account number 5223-7005. The IBAN
account number is SE6912000000012810106908 and the BIC/SWIFT code is
DABASESX (Danske Bank). In the box “Message to payment recipient” you will write the
first and last name of the person that the application fee is for as well as their national
ID number and/or file number. If you are paying the fee for several people at the same
time, you will provide all the national ID numbers and/or file numbers.
If you apply at an embassy or a consulate-general, you will pay the fee when you
submit your application. You will need to contact the relevant embassy or consulate-
general for information on fees, as they do not follow the same regulations on fees that
the Swedish Migration Agency does.

Remember that you will not be refunded the fee if your application is rejected.

Exceptions
Most applicants for a residence permit for studies will pay an application fee to the Swedish
Migration Agency when submitting their application. Accompanying family members must also
pay an application fee. The fee for adults is 1,000 SEK, and 500 SEK for children.

Not everyone applying for a residence permit has to pay an application fee. The following persons
can apply without paying a fee:

EU / EEA citizens and their accompanying family members

students at the World Maritime University in Malmö
citizens of Japan and Switzerland
students who have received a scholarship for studies in Sweden from:
Sida (Swedish International Development Agency)
EU
Swedish Institute (SI)
International Science Programme at the University of Uppsala

In order for an exception to the application fee requirement to be applicable, the scholarship must
consist of money for living expenses, and not only cover tuition fees. The scholarship must be paid
out during the period for which you are applying for a residence permit. Note that it is the
scholarship that causes an exception to the requirement. For example, if you are employed as a
doctoral researcher with a salary funded by EU funds, you are not exempt from the requirement to
pay an application fee because you receive a salary and not a scholarship.
