Six Degrees could Change the World

The world has been changing continuously and every change that happens may or may
not result in destruction. In the documentary film ’Six Degrees Could Change the World by the
National Geographic Television’’ shows the possibilities if the climate increases one degree until
it reaches six. Six degrees ‘is almost unimaginable.’ It shows how the change could affect the
biodiversity and the ecosystem and how the creation has become more and more like a
disaster and what causes it to happen. What is happening in the world today can be a natural
phenomenon which naturally occurs and we can’t do anything about it or it can also be
because of the people who are living in this planet earth.

Changes in everyday temperature, changes in oceans and ocean currents, changes in

natural disasters – these are the result from every increase in temperature and Global Warming
which can also result to the scarcity of resources, increasing of sea level, more natural disasters
that in turn has greater effect in humanity.

Men are created by God to be dominion over the animals, plants and any other living
things in this world. He created us to take care of every living creature and sustain ourselves by
these. But men, nowadays in our every little act don’t seem to realize that it could affect our
surroundings and could result in improbable scenarios. What I have seen in this film is how
alarming it is to see the world in a catastrophic and devastating situation. If the world we are in
now is in 0.8 degree Celsius and many creatures and people are dying already, people who get
sick because of the sudden changes of the weather made me realize and came to question-
how the world would react and adapt to changes if the climate increases by six degrees and
more?

We can’t wait for a tremendous phenomenon to happen before we act and make the
world a better place to live in for the next generation. We can’t wait for the animals to get
extinct and plants get dried and lose our resources before we look for solutions. The six degrees
increase in temperature may not end the life of the world but the Earth may not be a better
place to live in if that happens. Plants and animals need each other to produce foods and other
things, we are benefiting to these as much as plants and animals benefiting to each other.
Without plants and animals men cannot survive and without water that is continuously drying up
because of the Global warming plus a warm surrounding, all the creatures that God has
created would end up dying. Everything is connected, a chain reaction – that if one living thing
dies it will affect the others and may result in greater destruction.

It is vital to start today, start in a very little action. ‘’Climate experts are formal: the earth is
warming up at a steady pace. The reason for this is the increase in human-caused greenhouse
gases, which has led to health, ecological and humanitarian crises. ’’ (Solar Impulse Foundation)
One solution that the documentary suggested is to avoid the use of fossil fuels instead use
renewable energies e.g. solar and wind. There are a lot of solutions to prevent Global Warming,
for example: a better use of natural resources and responsible consumption & recycling. With
simple acts, we can change the world either to destruction or to a better place to live in – either
we choose to suffer or we treasure the gift that God has given us.
