Solution to Q#1:
a. Data collected:

P1 SHOCKED at first then asked me
“why is it erasing the previous
sentence?and writing new
alphabets erasing the old ones”
P2 A bit of shocked,pushed his head
and said “oh yes I remember it a
bit forgot how to handle it”.
P3 Angry Mode.gave the laptop
back and asked what wrong do I
have done with the keyboard
buttons.
P4 Wrote the data multiple time
and when can’t figure out how
to resolve overwriting kept
pressing ctrl+Z then gave up.
P5 A very normal reaction,pressed
insert button and
told me that I was
using overtype mode.

b. Findings:
Almost 4/5*100=80% find it difficult to recognize the issue of overtyping, because there
was no visible option to undo overtype mode neither any popper to indicate overtype
mode A very rare number of humans know how to deal with this condition to able or
disable overtype mode.About 4 out of 5 persons had resembling reaction with:
c. Implications and recommendations:
as doing the experiment I found most of us including me found difficulty in recognizing
what is the issue. Is it with the keyboard? Is it with the document? Or the software we are
using? We can’t figure out how to resolve this matter in a couple of seconds, even I
myself before doing this experiment was unaware of overtype method on MS word.
Recommendation:
1.may include a popover for a while to show that user is on overtype mode. further details
on click.
2.OVR button on keyboard with a light to show that overtype is enabled.
3.For better understanding overtype option should be included in Home tab.

Q2.A FEW USABILITY ISSUES WITH A WEBSITE.

• No prominent Home Button:

As for Instagram website on “google chrome”, there is no such visible or prominent
home button to guide a user how to go to home page, including a home button will make
it much easier to recognize .
• No tags under buttons:
A new user may find a lot of difficulty in recognizing the use of every button tag on the
website, for providing a good guide to the user a related name/description can be added
under or anywhere as suited near the button.

• Hidden Options:
This site has many hidden options which makes it difficult to use the functionality
website is providing, a user may think that there is no option for such thing and may
become disappointed after using the web. A clear path or options with suitable category
may resolve this issue.
• No prominent LOG OUT:
in case of Instagram.com, it cause a big trouble to logout,as normally we get the logout
option on the top left or right of a website so we usually search that option on the top of
website,but in of istagram we need click the profile option go to settings and then there
we get a logout option.which bothers a user(a user behaving like I do) a lot.

• Small Link Tabs:

Link tabs are small enough to make them negotiable,a larger size for the links makes it
easier for the user to recognize the tabs.further in common tabs for home, about etc are
included on the top of the webpage but they have them on the bottom of webpage.
