SUBJECT: Mazda Exhaust Heat Shields – Serviceable Kit
MODELS AFFECTED: (F187) S40-70FT—Mazda Engines only
(L177) H40-70FT—Mazda Engines only
DESCRIPTION:
An aftermarket kit, that includes a clamp-on heat shield and installation hardware, is now available.
This can be installed on existing exhaust weldments in cases where the shield has broken or failed.

This kit has been released in order to provide the heat shield as a serviceable part, to avoid
replacement of the entire exhaust weldment.

(F187) S40-70FT: Order kit part number 1651294 from the Parts Distribution Center.
(L177) H40-70FT: Order kit part number 1651288 from the Parts Distribution Center.

Detailed installation instructions are included with these kits (see page 2).

NOTE: Trucks built effective with serial number F187V07422D utilize a new design exhaust
weldment with a bolt-on shield where the shield can be directly replaced in the event of failures or
breakage. It is not necessary to order these kits for trucks with this new design. The serial number
break for the H40-70FT models is not available yet and will be distributed in a later revision to this
Gram.
