BALENCED DIET
DIET : A diet may be defined as the kinds of food on which a person or group lives.
A balanced diet is defined as one which contains a variety of foods in such quantities & proportions that
the need for energy, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates & other nutrients is adequately
met for maintaining the health, vitality & general well being & also makes a small provision for extra
nutrients to with stand short duration of leanness.
In this chart Authors mentioned amount of nutrients which is required in different age group.
Basic requirements of daily intake of dietary energy -15 to 20% protein, Fat 20 to 30%, Remaining
carbohydrates.
But in Ayurveda ahara krama will be based on Desha, kala, prakruti, dravya, guna ..etc will be
considered.

One which chewed by tongue and masticated by teeth and pushed through gala in called ahara.

By intake of Hitahara purusha vruddi occur, by consumption of ahitahara vyadi occur,that will be
in nimitta karana.
Hitahara leads to Shareera datu samyata, Vishamata will be corrected and opp of this will leads
to ahita.
IMPORTANCE
Its is been explained that the person should take the proper food in a proper quantity so that it
maintain the nomancy of agni. Where it is been compared with yajna.
the person who takes the food in such a way that which does not hamper the agni, will be
blessed by antaragni,and who does the daana, and does have relevance of poorva janma papa
karma, will not going to affect any vyadhi in present and future.

CONCLUSION
1. Though authors try to compare hitakara ahara with balanced diet at last in conclusion
mentions that Balanced diet is not sufficient to fulfill the term hitahara.
2. All hitakara aharas are patya, but not all Patya comes under hitahara.
