Data mode is now activated and the character display will show the first function value (power shift pressure).
NOTE: If the ALARM CANCEL and POWER key are held too long, the character display may scroll to one of the
other functions.
Data mode can also be exited by turning the key start switch to the OFF position.
NOTE: An error code of E00, indicates that there are no system errors.
When the electronic engine and pump control detects a fault while in normal mode, the controller and/or monitor
alert indicators are turned ON. The Real Time Error function of Data Mode is used to show the detected faults.
For detailed information on Data Mode, see the topic Service Operations in the Systems Operation section. The
Error Log function of Calibration Mode is used to show detected faults that existed at some time during machine
operation, but do not exist presently. The following troubleshooting procedures were written to help solve errors
that are currently present. But the same procedures may be used to help determine the areas that may have
caused the logged error.
NOTE: When a sensor fault is present, the corresponding alert indicator on the monitor panel is also activated.
For example, if the coolant temperature sensor is shorted to +battery, then:
E9 And E12 Governor Actuator Feedback Sensor Voltage Is Too Low Or Unstable
This error code is present when the controller senses the governor actuator feedback sensor is not operating
correctly.
NOTE: Ensure error code E9 or E12 is being shown on the monitor display.
CHECK SIGNAL TO CONTROLLER - Turn the disconnect to the ON position. Start the engine, turn OFF the
AEC. Place the engine speed dial at position "10". Using the 7X1710 Cable Probes, measure the voltage from
connector contact 21 of the controller 24 contact connector to frame ground.
* Voltage is 6.0 to 6.9 DCV; check the machine harness for dirty or poor connections. Ensure that the error code
is still present. If the error code is still present and no problem can be found, replace the controller. See the topic
Controller Replacement.
* Voltage is NOT 6.0 to 6.9 DCV; the governor actuator is not adjusted properly or is faulty. Perform the actuator
calibration procedure, see the topic Governor Actuator Replacement And Calibration. Use the monitor to check for
the same error code. If the problem is still present replace the governor actuator. See the topic Governor Actuator
Replacement And Calibration.
E10 - Governor Actuator Feedback Sensor Circuit Is Open Or Shorted To Battery Voltage
This error code is present when the controller senses the governor feedback sensor circuit has an open or is
shorted to +battery. The feedback sensor is a PWM type of sensor. The possible causes of this fault are:
a. Sensor signal circuit in the machine harness is open (or sensor is disconnected).
b. Sensor signal circuit in the machine harness is shorted to +battery.
c. No power or ground to the sensor.
d. Sensor is faulty.
e. Controller is faulty.
NOTE: Ensure error code E10 is being shown on the monitor display.
1. CHECK CONTROL AND HARNESS - Disconnect the sensor from the machine harness. Turn the disconnect
and key start switch to the ON position. At the machine harness connector for the sensor, measure the voltage
(DCV) between the sensor signal contact (3) and the ground contact (2).
* Voltage is 8.0 ± 0.5 DCV; control and harness are correct. The sensor is faulty. Replace the sensor.
* Voltage is NOT 8.0 ± 0.5 DCV; control or harness are faulty. Go to Step 2.
2. CHECK HARNESS GROUND CIRCUIT - The sensor remains disconnected. Turn the disconnect and key start
switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the machine harness 24 contact connector from the controller. At the
machine harness connector for the sensor, measure the resistance between the ground contact and frame
ground.
* Resistance is greater than 5.0 Ohms; the ground circuit in the harness is faulty. There is an open circuit between
the ground contact and frame ground. Repair or replace the machine harness.
* Resistance is less than 5.0 Ohms; harness resistance is correct. Go to Step 3.
3. CHECK FOR SHORTED HARNESS - The sensor and controller remain disconnected from the machine
harness. The disconnect and key start switch remain OFF. At the machine harness connector for the sensor,
measure the resistance between the signal contact (3) and the +battery contact (1).
* Resistance is less than 5000 Ohms; the machine harness is faulty. There is a short between the +battery circuit
and the signal circuit in the machine harness. Repair or replace the machine harness.
* Resistance is greater than 5000 Ohms; harness circuit resistance is correct. Go to Step 4.
4. CHECK FOR OPEN HARNESS - The sensor and control remain disconnected from the machine harness. The
disconnect and key start switch remain OFF. Place a jumper wire at the machine harness connector for the
sensor from contact 2 to 3. Measure the resistance from contact 21 of the 24 contact machine harness connector
for the controller to frame ground.
