succeed and become something of themselves throughout their education. Those who succeed
cannot do so themselves, but with the support of others (teachers, parents, coaches, etc.) I have
always thought that a good support system is what helps nourish success and if having to be a
part of someone's support system in order to help others get from one point to another in their
lives, I will become that support. Just as I have gotten to where I am with the help of teachers,
siblings, and people I have met along the way. I want to make that difference in students’ lives; I
can still remember the first time I thought of what I would want to become as an adult. I knew I
wanted to make a difference in others’ lives just as Ms.Calloway made a difference in mine
during my 3rd grade year in elementary school. The skills that served her will also serve me as
an educator the skills are communication, observation, time management, and bilingual abilities.
They will help me as an educator for when I must help students with the work necessary for
success in not only my class but the outside world as well. My field observation helped me
witness the diverse teaching methods but throughout the experience, there was one method that
caught my attention the most it was the inquiry-based learning. There was a specific English
teacher at the high school that assessed her students with class discussions, and it was effective
to her students because it kept them engaged in conversation through the lesson.
My educational philosophy is that all students are like flowers. Each flower unique to one
another waiting to blossom with the help of others. Their four main petals each representing their
Physical, Mental, Emotional and Social growth. As we know, a flower must be watered in order
to grow. It is my desire to nourish students through education so they may meet their full
potential by helping them find their individual skills. I will create a safe environment where all
students are free to share ideas and take risks in order to reach their full potential by giving them

opportunities to share among their peers. My knowledge of historical events will help set the
stage for how I think of students and school by giving me the ability to improve what has
activate student’s curiosity and helps students develop their own skills through the areas taught.
Inquiry-based learning will not only help students reach their full potential through discussions
and ideas but will also help them develop as people through communication and research with
the support of myself by their side to guide them through the process. I will use Inquiry-based
learning to create discussions in order to assess students along with short quizzes and projects to
see where they stand not only grading wise but also as members of society.
I believe that the qualities a person should have in order to move forward in this career
are; These four skills include communications, observation, time management, and patience. All
four of these are connected in the profession when speaking to students and staff, learning of the
diverse group of students you may encounter and keeping track of time spent so that the students
get the knowledge necessary to succeed in the course. The patience with students will be the key
to a successful classroom because each student is unique in their own way. In my life, with the
help of my support system, I have taken one big step already by placing myself in the high
school environment by becoming a substitute in the district. The experience that I obtain from
substituting will help me achieve my goal of becoming a teacher by seeing the different students
I will encounter and lessons that can be learned through simply observing my surroundings as I
am substituting. Along with being a substitute I still have courses that must be taken in order to
obtain further knowledge in all aspects of education. Courses that help expand my knowledge in
