METHODOLOGY

Project Flow

Initialization
1. Get to know members of our group and had few discussions

2. Had a session which involves pitching of each members’ ideas

3. Presented ideas to our supervisors to see which one suits the most.

1. Collected necessary data needed for our initial ideas.

Planning
2. Had few discussion and analysis on how to improve the current ideas.

3. Innovate new ideas to improvise the current one

4. Finalise the ideas and add seek for supervisor’s help before doing so.

Execution and
1. Had a slight analysis on budget allocations.
development
2. Acquire materials needed from the previous used projects.

3. Bought few more materials which would be used in fabrication processes as well
as for the electrical part.

4. Start building our prototype by designing it first.

5. Had few improvisations before finally finishing it and did poster presentation
about our working prototype

Closure
1. Development of final report.

2. Submission of all the reflection and final report.

Identification of Suitable Tools or Software
1) Hardware List- The materials used in order to produce our functioning project
prototype.

No Hardware Description
1 Small Components Used as a connector which is important
(Screws, Bracket, Nails) to join two materials together.

2 Plywood (3-Ply and 5- The 3 Ply plywood is used for roofing

Ply) purposes for our prototype meanwhile
the 5-Ply is being used for the other
frames.
3 Gears and Motors(12V) Being applicable to a lever which is
being used to initiate the game reward
system

4 Arduino Mega To process input voltages and gives

output voltages which could be
programmed by software.

5 LCD Display Important to display command for our

users to input information needed.

6 Electrical Components Electrical components is being used

(Led Bulb, Connecting direct input from programmed data and
wires, as well as to indicate signals.
2) Tools List- Tools that is being used together with hardware in order create the
prototype which can be found in lab.

No Tools Description
1 Cordless Jigsaw This device is being used to shape our
Machine plywood in order to create our prototype
frames.
2 Sandpaper/Wood Used to flatten the wood and create a
Scrapper much smoother surface.

3 Cordless Screwdriver Used to drive screw into the wood for.

Mainly used in the reconstruction of
foosball game.
4 Cordless Drill Machine Important to make a hole which is a part
of our design and also to insert screws.

5 Designing Tools ( Equipment used in order to design our

Pencil, Long ruler, prototype and for sketching purposes.
Sesiku L steel, G -
Clamp)
6 Power Supply Used to provide power for the Arduino
Mega as well as Laptop which is being
used for programming purposes

3) Software List- List of software used in order to programme our project electrical
parts.

No Hardware Description
1 Microsoft Office Mostly used in documentation which
includes proposal and final report.
2 Adobe Photoshop Used to design poster which would be
used for presentation purposes.

3 Proteus To simulate and analyse the electrical

connection which is being used in
Arduino board.
4 AutoCAD/CATIA Used to draw prototype model in both
2D and 3D diagram.

5 Arduino Used for coding a series of command to

the Arduino Mega in order to show how
it should process the input voltage
information.
ENGINEERING ANALYSIS

Ergonomic Analysis

Ergonomic Analysis is clearly a major factor in designing or creating a product as it connects

working environment to either the operator or the users. In order for our product to meet
this requirement, most of the parts being created are not to small or too big. It is just nice
for our users to work with and with the better connectivity between our prototype to the
user, he less risk will occur which would eventually reduce the hazards found. Our prototype
created is also cost savvy and considered easy to handle which works under our users
capabilities and does not cause any other harms to the environment as well as humans.

Electrical Analysis

Mechanical Analysis

Mechanical Analysis is vital in ensuring the product meets the strength requirements so that
it can be fully functioned. We decided to use plywood as our main body material. This is
mainly due to strength of the wood as a frame body. Other than that, plywood can be easily
cut and designed compared to any other materials such as steel or aluminium. Plywood is
also considered as a material which can be connected easily with each other as it involves
normal tools to join them. Plywood does not damage the electrical components in the
prototype as well.

Chemical Analysis
The chemical analysis in our prototype mainly focuses on the composition of materials used
and if it is safe to be combined together with electrical components which may lead to any
unwanted events. Our main structure is made up of plywood which can be considered as
dead cell which forms rigid wall. Due to its nature of lacking cytoplasm and water content,
plywood can be considered to be a very good strong structure which can be used to build
any kind of prototype besides being able to resist fire and insulate electricity. Plywood is
considered to be having a tensile strength in the range of 4000-5000 psi which suits our
usage of gathering stacks of paper as it might get heavier with increase of loads.
Standard Operating Procedure for Fun and Reward with Paper Project.

Standard Operating Procedures:

1. Connect its power supply and set up the programming codes for the Arduino Mega Board.
2. Make sure the ball being used in the game is being placed in the compartments built.
3. A quick observation is being done to observe if there is any short circuit and disconnected
wires in the electrical compartment.
4. If the display appeared the prototype can be used to start the reward basis recycling
method.
5 The following flowchart shows the procedures that is involve while dealing with the
protype with all the following instructions being displayed:

START

“Welcome to Fun & Reward with Paper”

“Insert a minimum of 5 pieces of A4 paper”

“Select given option”

REWARD GAME
