The Big Picture

This illustration explores the wonders of determination, transition, and outcome. It uses

many different factors such as colors and symbols to convey the central idea of the creation. By

absorbing this piece, its intention was to clarify and encourage.

Analysis

In the art work, the first thing that is highly evident to me is the colors. One side has all

these vibrant and lively shades but on the right side, which is the majority of the picture, it is

black and white. By just skimming the picture, one can grasp the fact that there is something that

man is trying to pursue. Not only is the man disproportionate with the rest of the drawing, the

tree is, too. Unusually, the sun, moon, and stars are out all at the same time which most likely

means it is early morning or mid-evening. The black and white section has a city in the

background but in the colorful section, it seems magical or dream-like because the sky setting.

Inferences

The illustrator uses the majority of the picture to show a banal world versus a world that

seems brilliant and filled with vibrancy. This is how we, as new juniors, can perceive things:

banal and black and white. The black and white shows our general and current mindset but as we

entered this course we are now becoming the man in the illustration. The other side is, where

there are these wonderful shades, how we ought to see the world at the end of the course.

When I noticed the tree, it reminded me of my current knowledge: simple yet growing.
The sun, moon, and the stars makes that part of life seem not too uneventful but rather something

that has potential. Our minds and skills, before the class, had potential but potential cannot

become anything unless we challenge it. The illustration depicts the transition from a hackneyed

mindset to a more advance, sophisticated one.

Synthesis

As we see it, the illustrator does an elaborate job of depicting transition. When viewing

this art work, everyone can definitely relate to it in some way. In this context, a viewer can take

away some inspiration. When going into a place where you know you will be challenged, you

can either look at it from a negative standing point or a positive standing point such as this one.

The illustration demonstrates the determination to cross over to the other side of thought and also

assists people to look forward to the outcome of hard work.

Evaluation

Altogether, the creator admirably fulfilled the illustration of transition. If its intent was to

encourage other to challenge their banal lifestyle and thinking, then it succeeded enormously. It

really put a bright side onto hard work especially coming from a more difficult, attentive course.

The purpose of this creation helped me thoroughly understand the reason for this course,

therefore making this illustration worth the creativity.
