“He bathed the male dead bodies, in the General Hospital mortuary making
them presentable for relatives who came to the mortuary. He carried them to
the burial grounds and sometimes lit the funeral pyres…He performed the
funeral seva as it is called for over a decade and half and estimates that he
catered to about 300 departed souls and grieving families in the spirit of seva
to His beloved Bhagawan.”
Apart from his office work in the Ashram, Chiran Basnet was also in charge of the
funeral seva in Puttaparthi for over a decade. What exactly is this funeral seva?
Under Swami’s instructions, when a person died in Prasanthi Nilayam, whether they
were a resident, a visiting devotee, a member of the sevadal or a hospital patient,
the funeral was arranged by the ashram as seva. This also included food from the
South Indian canteen being served to the relatives of the departed person as
Swami’s prasadam, in their residence for three days.
Chiran recollects that, as part of the funeral arrangements, he also prepared the
bodies (male) by bathing them and making them presentable before the relatives
came for them in the General Hospital mortuary., He also carried the bodies to the
banks of the river Chitravathi along with the sevadals. He doesn't remember the
count but estimates that he has offered this seva to more than 300 departed souls
in over a decade and a half.
So, when someone who has performed an extraordinary and rare seva such as this,
begins to talk about life and death, it’s time to listen and listen carefully…
Over to Chiran:
Today I am making a humble attempt to discuss a little bit of the spiritual and
philosophical understanding I have attained based on what I have learned living at
the Lotus Feet of my God and Guru Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, as well as from
reading the scriptures.
At the very outset, what is the ‘Subtle body’ according to Swami and our Shastras?
Both say the same. Swami says:
"There are five sheaths within which "I" (Atma) shines. Of these, the Annamaya -
the material sheath, is the gross body. The Subtle body consists of the next
three sheaths, the vital (Prana - maya), the mental (Mano - maya) and the
intellectual (Vijnana - maya). The Casual body is Bliss conscious, the Ananda -
maya kosa or sheath. Even this is a limitation, a phase, a characteristic. The "I" has
no such bound or bondage. The Guru who can make you cognize this "I" is your own
mind. Turn it towards Intelligence and Ananda, you are on the right path; turn it
towards the vital, the material, you slide down the path of perdition." (SS VOL CH
21 P 125)
Swami clearly says that the Subtle body disintegrates on the death of the material
body. It is our common experience that death happens to the material body or
Annamaya kosha. But what else dissolves with the death of the physical body
according to Swami? The subtle body which is comprised of Prana maya kosha (the
vital or the breath), Manomaya kosha (the mind) and Vijnana maya kosha (the
Intellect). So, the Subtle body also dies or disintegrates along with the material
body. How? At the death of the physical body, each of these kosas or bodies
merges progressively into the next one. The Pranamaya kosa merges into Manomaya
kosa which in turn merges into Vijnanamaya kosa which finally merges into
Anandamaya kosa. According to Swami, only Anandamaya kosa, the bliss sheath
that wraps our soul remains after physical death and not the subtle body.
This Anandamaya kosa is also known as the Karana or Casual body. It is this Karana
sharira or Causal body that survives and carries within it the seeds of the next
birth. What then is this altogether new concept that the Subtle body survives
after death? It is, simply put, a concept being promoted by those at
Muddenahalli who claim they are communicating with the subtle body of Sathya
Sai Baba in order to solicit money from devotees. Ironically, while they claim
to communicate with Swami's subtle body, Swami Himself said the subtle body
disintegrates when the physical body dies.
Madhusudan claims that Swami revealed the following to him: “I will be in this
Subtle Form, which is just like the physical form, without flesh and bones.” He
declared that “My mission is not yet over, keep yourself selfless and pure so I
may use you all as my instruments, I do not have a body but I shall use your
bodies to do My work. Your hands shall be My hands, your feet shall be My feet,
your words shall be My words and your actions shall be My actions. “
What happens on death is an experience all will have, sooner or later. What
happens after death has been explained by many scriptures, Gurus and Jnanis. In a
nutshell, they say ‘We become what we are or what we were in life - Nothing
more and nothing less'. This idea is based on the Hindu philosophy of life and
death.
So, what are we now or then? We are the sum total of the entirety of our actions
and reactions, affiliations and addictions, emotions and achievements. All these are
termed as 'Samskaras'. After death, we become a bodiless bundle of samskaras
that envelopes our pristine soul. The presence or absence of Samskaras decides
whether your next sojourn involves being born on earth again, remaining in a
heavenly or hellish realm or being freed from the painful cycle of life and
death.
Samskara are the results of our Karma or actions. Every action performed or
planned leaves us with impressions imprinted in our mind. Samskaras can be termed
as ragas or attachments/ attractions and vasanas which translates as mental
impressions, can be termed as innate dispositions or behavioral inclinations. In
other words, Samskara is the sum total of what 'you' are, minus your body.
Swami says that a human being is a bundle of thoughts. This bundle of thought is
our current raga, vasanas and samskara. Invariably, on or after death too you
remain what you are: a bundle of vasanas or samskaras. Samskara can be good or
bad like Sadvasana or Durvasana (good tendencies or evil tendencies). Basically,
both words mean that an act performed by a person leaves impressions on the
psyche or conscience as indelible imprints, so much so that it becomes a canopy
over your consciousness. These samskaras or vasanas are latent in the beginning
of the present birth as Prarabdha Karma. Prarabdha Karma is that portion of
past Karmas (Sanchita Karma), which is responsible for the present body.
Only freedom from both good samskaras and lower vasanas gives you freedom from
life and death. Even the higher states after death are not free from the wheel of
rebirth. They are still a part of the journey to Perfection i.e. towards God. The
combination of good and bad samskaras may bring you back to an embodied state as
a human being to again work to progress yourself. A really bad samskara may lead
to a lower birth as one of the millions of other species, wherein your natural
actions and inclinations don't attract karma, wherein having suffered life and birth
and pains in-between you may eventually again be eligible to be born as a human
being to progress further.
Therefore, Swami and our Shastras continually make us aware that human life
is extremely valuable. It is not to be wasted in fulfilment of undesirable
vasanas or procuring of wrong Samskaras.
Swami says:
"Man, alone has the chance to liberate himself from the wheel of birth and death,
through the pleasant means of serving God. But as a result of ignorance, or what is
worse, perversity, he lets the opportunity slip from his hands, and suffers grief
and pain, fear and anxiety, ad infinitum." (SSS Vol. VI, page. 60)
What then awaits those of us who waste our precious sojourn in human life? Such
people may fall into yet another category; the category of disembodied spirits
called lost souls whose samskaras and vasanas are so low that they aren't reborn
immediately and may even hang around for millennia to take rebirth. These are also
known as evil spirits, bhoothas, pretas or pisaachas. However there also exist
disembodied spirits with good samskaras who will wait for the appropriate time and
choice of birth.
HEAVEN & HELL
Hypothetically, let's say after death we exist as a whiff or a wave or some energy
form. What then does this wave seek to join or what 'signal tower' will it
connect to after death? It will invariably connect to the tower of your service
provider, the service provider you have subscribed to your whole life through your
actions, impressions and living. You effortlessly dial to connect with those who are
likeminded. You look around for your friends or consciously connect to people with
similar Samskaras and Vasanas and the call therefore, automatically is to this
preferred tower where such vasanas lie. There are only two existent towers: The
Tower of God and the Tower of the Devil. Welcome to Heaven or Hell!! Heaven
and Hell are the condition of your mind and consciousness, the quality of your
company and the nature of the surroundings you are placed in. Isn't the same true
in life and living too? Ditto post death.
Hinduism and our Shastras believe in the existence of ghosts and spirits. The
Upanishads refers to ghost and spirits possessing human bodies and speaking
through them. Due to their terrible sins, samskaras and vasanas these unfortunate
souls remain suspended in the region between higher worlds and the earth.
Therefore, I refer to them as being in the Pendulum state. Hindu scriptures says
there are four situations, a jiva or soul may be in after death. (But for the
liberated or realized there is no journey or planes or situations, they verily merge
back in God.)
The first one is Suryaloka or Devayana or the way of the Gods. These are for
spiritually advanced souls who are not yet realized. Nevertheless, they move on to
the Solar plane or Brahmaloka until they attain Liberation. The second one is the
Pitriyana or Chandraloka wherein, having done rituals and good deeds, they move to
the lunar spheres and enjoy the fruits of their good deeds. On the exhaustion of
their merits they fall back to earth due to their unfilled desires and vasanas and
again try and venture into spiritual path. The third is for impure people moving
towards hell or birth in sub- human species until the completion of their
suffering attracted by the persuasion of their vasanas. They are born as humans
again to move on to the path to Liberation. The fourth is for people with the
lowest vasanas - those people with tendencies towards extreme wickedness and
causing misery to others. They are said to be born as insignificant creatures like
reptiles and fleas. After being born and dying several times and experiencing the
resultant suffering, they are again born as humans to have a chance at spirituality.
Essentially you will note that the people with similar samskaras will move
towards those who are like them, those with the same energy who dwell on the
same mental plane as they do.
The disembodied lower spirits come out of the last two categories mentioned
above. In between birth in lower planes these spirits roam the earth in ignorance
and with impudence. Having been disembodied but wrapped in filthy samskaras and
vasanas of the 'Arishad Varga,' the six inner enemies of lust, anger, greed,
delusion, pride and jealousy, these souls still look for similar gratifications. This is
what the Hindu philosophy calls the state of lower spirits: Bhootas, Prethas
and Pishachas; all disembodied and existing in their karana sharira or casual body.
Even among the lower spirits there are various categories depending on one's way
of life and cause of death. Being disembodied and unseen, Swami tells us that they
are slightly more powerful than human beings, albeit in lesser conditions than
human birth. They still seek fun and fulfillment as they sought in life. After death,
they seek gratifications mostly in possession of human beings:
Swami: Do not believe in mesmerism (nb: spiritualism, mediums). Do not try to learn
it or practice it. What you see then are evil spirits. God is not that easily
attainable. God, who is a form of satvaguna (purity), will never enter into these
lowly things and talk. Man is seven steps below God. Evil spirits are six steps below
God. God's aura falls on all these steps. Evil spirits have slightly greater strength
than man. With this extra strength, they have the power to masquerade
themselves as Gods. (Do not get cheated by these spirits. Beware!). (Sri Sathya
Sai Anandadayi, p.292)
What kind of humans do they affect or possess? They hunt for humans with
impure tendencies or vasanas latent in them. Swami describes these low vasanas
and their implications thus:
"The impure tendencies (Vasanas) lead one to such vices as the craving to see
things that cater to the lower desires (like cinema pictures): to eat dishes
that are full of Rajas (like fish, flesh, etc.); to drink intoxicants that ruin
one's personality; they develop anger, delusion, greed, conceit, deceit,
hatred, envy etc." (Dharma Vahini)
Swami further describes the tendencies and behavior of such people who have
lower vasanas:
".......this group is not guided by any rule of conduct. They have no norms, no
discrimination between virtue and vice, right and wrong, proper and improper.
They have no horror of hell, no conception of heaven, no dread of the devil,
no reverence for God, no respect for the s'âstras, no vision of dharma! They
are best pictured as beasts in human form. The majority of humans are
members of this unfortunate group. They strive for momentary pleasure,
short-lived happiness, temporary joy and evanescent comfort." (Gîtâ Vahini, p.
147)
Therefore, a saint once remarked on seeing a person convicted of rape and murder,
' they have caught the body that was used as a vehicle to commit the crime, the
one who did the crime is gone'. The disembodied, spirits, existing in their causal
body and bereft of any hope in near future, roam and make merry with you and
your vices. That is why the Trinity of Sai Avatars is so needed to instill some
sanity to this hopelessly wayward world. Today, almost the whole world and its
inhabitants are in the grip of these lower spirits. We see the very manifestations
of their power and fury in every sphere of life in this dark age of Kali.
Go and search any Veda, Shastra or Purana and see if you can find a reference to
an Avatar being stuck as a lost soul rather than returning to their original Divine
state. There will be no reference simply because the disembodied state is only the
fate of humans not God. How on earth can our dear Sai be in such a pathetic
disembodied lower state like Bhoothas, Prethas and Pishachas? Do they think
He an Avatar or a mere human or a Devil? Some people are equating Our Sai
with the state of a decadent disembodied lost soul and many trusting devotees
have lapped it up hook, line and sinker! What a Shame! Not understanding the Sai
Avatar is one thing but being deluded by others' ignorance to the extent of
belittling Swami is a sad state of affairs! Here again is Swami's own words
explaining what is Subtle body as mentioned in the begin of the note:
" There are five sheaths within which "I" (Atma) shines. Of these, the
Annamaya - the material sheath, is the gross body. The SUBTLE body
consists of the next three sheaths, the vital (Prana - maya), the mental (
Mano - maya) and the intellectual (Vijnana - maya). The Casual body is Bliss
conscious, the Ananda - maya kosa or sheath. Even this is a limitation, a
phase, a characteristic. The "I" has no such bound or bondage. The Guru who
can make you cognize this "I" is your own mind. Turn it towards Intelligence
and Ananda, you are on the right path; turn it towards the vital, the
material, you slide down the path of perdition." (SS VOL CH 21 P 125)
So, what are Madhusudan and his followers dishing out impudently by propagating
their claims about the Subtle body? That now our Sai is limited to a Subtle body
with faculties of only Prana maya, Mano maya and Vijnana maya (life, mind and
intellectual sheaths)? Due to His limitations Sai possesses the Divine Madhu to
complete His Unfulfilled Mission? What has Sai got to cognize to be free from
clutches of Mind and Madhu? Was He on the road to perdition that Madhu
had to save Him? What is this nonsense? What ignominy to our Sai who
describes Himself as one with no attributes; beyond koshas, beyond samskaras and
vasanas? What then is His state of ‘no attributes’? Why did Sai say thus?
"The Avatar comes to reveal man to himself, to restore to him his birthright
of inner Bliss. He does not come to found a new creed, to breed a new
faction, to instill a new God. If such happens, it is the consequence of evil in
man. The human mind cannot grasp the Absolute, Attribute less principal; it is
Abstract and beyond preview of Speech, Mind and Intellect. Fire is inherent
in the matchstick but it is only when it is struck as flame that we can benefit
from it. The Formless has to manifest as Form; the Formless has to appear
with Form. Then only can man listen, learn, understand, follow and be saved,
through the Bliss of that experience. He lights the flame of Realization in
each; and the age - old ignorance is destroyed in an instant. (BTBOS P 305)
How can our Sai who is the Absolute, Attribute less, Formless, Transcendental
Reality be portrayed as nothing more than a disembodied spirit? How low must one
be to peddle such horrible theories and how sad it is for those who fall for it?
To such of those who are still not clear let me again venture into the topic of the
subtle body. What is Subtle body? The subtle body is a conglomeration of the
life force of the physical body, along with the mind and intellect. After
death, it progressively disintegrates and merges into the Causal body which
then carries our samskaras and vasanas, our tendencies and the results of our
actions. These become the seeds of our next birth.
An Avatar has no karma, so what samskara or vasanas can bind God? God is
totally bereft of these karmic repercussions and attachments that binds us, be
they good, bad or indifferent. Nothing can bind Him. Swami as an Avatar is
free of any karma, samskara or vasana that would lead Him to be bound as we
are. While we are affected by these and must transcend them, Sai is eternally
free and came down to help us transcend. When we transcend these limitations,
we verily become God. Didn't Sai say that? Isn't Advaitha Philosophy all about this
transcendental oneness and going back being God?
We have not only utterly and unconscionably degraded our Sai to the level of a lost
soul when we say He exists in a subtle form in Muddenahalli, we have also.
completely disregarded His words that the subtle body disintegrates at death. And
why? To instead accept the words of a mere human. Is God Madhu's butler at his
beck and call? What kind of degradation and low profile have we given to our
Lord? Even saying that His mission is unfulfilled and that He needs to fulfill it
by existing in disembodied state with Samskaras and Vasanas of Sathya Sai
Swami is an extraordinary degradation and humiliation to the Avatar. It also
contradicts Swami's statement in 2006 that "My mission is already
accomplished. I’m only letting it unfold before your eyes."
That He is using Madhu as vehicle because He was attached to His mission of
building schools and hospitals is the lowest profiling of Avatarhood I have ever
witnessed in the entire history of Hindu scriptures and Philosophy of thousands
of years.
There is no reference to an Avatar using the body of another as a vehicle.
Mahavishnu himself appeared as Varahaavatar, He did Not enter into a body of a
Swine! Swami said that He never uses the body of another:
Now hear this. I never speak through another; I never possess another or use
another as a vehicle of expression. I come direct, I come straight, I come as I am,
to confer peace and joy. (SSS 5.18)
I never speak through another. I never use another or possess another physical
vehicle to express Myself. I am not a ghost or spirit to do so, to need some
medium. I come direct, I speak direct, I come as I am or as I will to come in fresh
created Forms. I do not use weak vacillating human vehicles; I confer boons
straight and without any intermediary".
He said "The Lord of Puttaparthi will personally hold your hand and take you to
the goal. Sai is forever heart to heart. I will appear before you or I will
make the situation favourable for you even if I don't manifest. But I will
never need to enter anybody's dirty body to help or guide you".
Compare the above declaration of Sai with what Madhu claims:
Be concerned about what’s the content and not the vessel; be aware of what’s the
communication and don’t worry about the communicator! Put efforts and reach Me.
These people are just instruments like a radio, and not someone who come in
between you, and your divinity which is Swami.
Madhusudan imitates Swami's voice, His characteristic gestures and the way He
held His hands in front of Him when He walked. Madhusudan allows people to touch
his feet as if he is Swami. He gives 'darshan', takes devotee's letters and even
signs his name as Sri Sathya Sai. This is simple imitation and Swami said that
imitation is only human, while creation is divine!
"...this new phenomenon which has never happened in the history of any avatar, see
and experience whatever is happening and conclude for themselves." (B. N.
Narasimhamurthy)
The truth is that there is no need for BNM's claimed subtle body, because as
Swami has said, all Avatars descended, finished their mission and only then did
they leave their bodies:
This body has been assumed, to serve a purpose: the establishment of Dharma and
the teaching of Dharma. When that purpose is over, this Body will disappear, like
the bubble on the waters. (SSS 10.39)
The Avatars of Rama, Krishna, etc., may be different in names and forms; but the
Atma Principle in them is only one. They all lived in their human vestures till the
completion of their Avataric mission, and once their task was completed, they
disappeared. (SSS 42.04)
Rama, Krishna, Shirdi Sai, and every other Avatar came, finished their missions and
only then left their bodies. Swami did the same, as He promised He would. This is
true, B N Narasimhamurthy, even if His mission was not to your satisfaction.
This is true even if His mission didn't live up to your expectations. This is
true even if you failed to believe His words at Trayee Brindavan that He
didn't need to enter into a 'dirty body' in order to communicate with His
devotees. This is true even if your lack of faith in Him caused you to invent a
'subtle version' of Swami that would do what you thought He should have,
instead of what He had actually come to do. This is still true in spite of your
lack of understanding of both Him and His mission. When Swami said repeatedly
that He would complete His mission and that He would only leave once it was
complete, how dare you accuse our Lord Sri Sathya Sai Baba of not completing
His mission before He left? How dare you spread your own lack of faith in
Him to innocent devotees, by telling them that Swami failed to complete His
mission!? Your lack of faith in Swami's own words that He would complete His
mission, that He would not leave His body until He had done this and finally in
2006 that He had completed His mission is the foundation of all of the subtle
body claims. Because if we trust Swami's words that He completed His
mission, then there is no need for Him to come back in a subtle body. It is
only when our faith fails us and we doubt His words that we can believe it is
necessary for Him to come back in a 'subtle body' to complete His 'incomplete
mission'.
THE PURNAVATAR LEAVING THE BODY & THE COMING OF THE
TROJAN VIRUS
What then is the Muddenahalli Subtle phenomena? I again repeat what I have
warned before. As a powerful Purna Avatar leaves the body, the various lower
energies suppressed by His Sheer Physical Presence raise up to gain their grounds.
Evil forces which design to damage or diminish the faith and devotion of the simple
and the sincere do emerge into action and try to attract attention by devious
means. They try to draw away aspirants from the spiritual path into worldly paths
of avarice and malice. There is a big chasm of difference between the Sai Shakti
(Sai Power) and these inferior shaktis. Since the opportunity has now offered
itself, this has to be said. (SSS 10.35)
More often than not like a trojan virus they spring from within and attempt to
destroy your faith. If the entity that runs Muddenahalli is not Sai, and I am sure
it is not our Sai, then it’s intentions and actions will be totally devastating if
allowed to grow unhindered. The kind of extraordinary split, extreme hatred
amongst erstwhile Sai fraternity, the nervousness and confusion that permeates
the Sai world due to the subtle body claims and so on are only the beginning of the
mission of whatever spirit it is that guides the Muddenahalli mentors.
Swami Himself has said He is like a light. One may study scriptures under the light
while another may choose to use the light to commit a robbery. The choice is yours
as to what you use His light for. A Sadhaka chants 'Om Namaha Sivaya' for self-
emancipations and God grants him the same. An asura chants 'Om Namaha Sivaya'
for killing and destruction and God grants him the weapon of his choice. Our
Shastras and Puranas are replete with these stories.
You may also ask, 'How can a lower energy know what happens in private between
you and the Avatar'. Well, you merely underestimate the power of these lower
being. Remember that Swami said that "Evil spirits have slightly greater strength
than man. With this extra strength, they have the power to masquerade
themselves as Gods." Remember also that Lakshman was almost mortally wounded
by one of these asuras in presence of Lord Rama and Hanuman? They appear
anywhere and fear none. Swami was known to slap people in early days to get rid of
these spirits who don't run away even in His Presence. Shirdi Baba effectively used
his satka (stick) to strike people for similar results.
Do not believe in mesmerism. Do not try to learn it or practice it. What you
see then are evil spirits. God is not that easily attainable. God, who is a form
of satvaguna, will never enter into these lowly things and talk. Man is seven
steps below God. Evil spirits are six steps below God. God's aura falls on all
these steps. Evil spirits have slightly greater strength than man. With this
extra strength, they have the power to masquerade themselves as Gods. (Do
not get cheated by these spirits. Beware!) (Extracts from Sri Sathya Sai
Anandadayi by Karunamba Ramamurthy, Chapter 26)
We know Mantras are classified in various categories like Veda, Shanti, Ugra and
so on. Then we also have Tantra sadhana where we have Tantra Sastras and
Mantras for Sadhanas of Yogini, Sabara, Yakshini which include forecasters (who
tell you events past and present) like Karnapishachini, Madhumati, Padmavati and
Karna Matangi and so on. There are also Dream Tellers like Svapna, Varahi rakta
chamundi and so on and Treasure finders like Vata Yakshini etc. You can find
thousands of practitioners of these tantra and mantras depending on their
obsessions.
People do not observe My words properly. They take My words lightly, thinking
it to be just a joke or fun. Whatever I speak, even if it is a joke or for fun,
it is Truth, Truth, and Truth only! Unfortunately, people do not recognize this
truth; even those who move very closely with Swami. They, therefore take it
lightly. They just listen and forget about it.
But, surely the result of their apathy would be apparent sooner than later.
Only those who are unable to visualize the future will be taking my words
lightly. (SSS 41.16)
Listen to any discourse of Sai where He disowns these people. You will invariably
notice the power and passion in the tone and timbre with which He delivers them so
much so the translator finds it difficult to keep pace. Why would Sai be lying and
fooling all of us so vehemently, passionately and repeatedly? Are Madhu's
words more meaningful to you than the passionate cautions of your own Sai? If
that is the case then you may need to consider how good the hold of low spirits in
and around Madhu is on your mind and soul, that the words of Sai mean nothing to
you. It is pretty scary to be in a state wherein Sai and His teachings mean
nothing to you and your soul has been bound to a low life practitioner like
Madhusudan. May Sai help you, but first seek His words and His help. Try hearing
His discourse on Heart to Heart relationship, feel His words of Immense Love and
Care. Come back to Him.
In fact, a page of any of His Sathya Sai Speaks or Vahinis will take life times
to follow or adhere to in all sincerity. Have you read them all? If you have
already read them all, have you lead your lives in accordance with His ideals
and principles? If you have done so and still find it insufficient to propel you
towards your spiritual goals then blame our Sai by all means. But if you
haven't, don't blame our Sai for your insufficiencies!! Don't mock our Sai that
He did not do enough for your emancipation! Don't tell the world that His
Mission is incomplete! Don't degrade our Sai that He was not good enough in
His 85 long years of toil and pain!!
Finally, please don't ever tell me that a Leo Nanda, Preetham, Lujbica or even Vijay
Sai B.S. and their lot have done and dusted with all Sathya Sai Speaks and Vahinis
and have now become spiritual satellites of higher learning. Yes, stop blaming and
finding fault with Our Sai right now. Don't ever imply to the world that Madhu
is giving you what our Sai failed to bestow!!
Well, Madhu was also a known as a highly emotional person. What kind of emotional
instability will make one write at once 20 letters in own blood to one's friends on
petty matters? Yes, Madhu did write 20 letters to college band boys with his
blood at once on petty matters! Madhu was a pretty manipulative and scheming
fellow at times too as his batchmates would confirm. Now this same scheming
personality is eulogized by subtle followers as impeccable and has some even calling
him Bhagavan! There are eyewitnesses among his batchmates who have seen him
trying to summon spirits at night. It seems that he continues these practices even
today suggesting that he has mastered the practice too and become a Bhrashta or
corrupt. Such a fellow is made God today and unfortunate people have
surrendered their lives to him overriding numerous cautions of their own Sai.
If anything, the face is the mirror and reflection of a person's soul. The spiritual
depth of your hearts invariably brightens your face as divine tejas. Madhu never
had it and now his countenance is darker than ever. Narasimhamurthy sir once had
that tejas but today he looks like someone just out of a coal mine, totally haggard,
depleted and with a tortured countenance. He has lost his tejas by living a lie and
he knows it.
OF SAI DREAMS
I rarely tell my Sai dreams to anyone lest in public as now. It is only out of love and
concern that it may be of some help to those who may care to hear that I will
narrate. I have had two dreams wherein Swami came and told me that the claimed
subtle body is total fraud. I will narrate one.
I was seated in the median of four roads. That position has an esoteric meaning. I
see someone approaching from left side from the corner of my eye. I instantly
recognize it as a very dark force. So, I keep looking straight. The person
approaches right beside me and says in Swami's voice 'Kaisa hai (how are you)?'
just as Swami used to ask me many times. I glance without turning my head and I
see Madhu standing. I look straight again and completely ignore him. He then places
a bag full of gold coins in front of me. I don't touch them. He keeps standing. I
close my eyes. Eventually Madhu leaves. As he leaves I suddenly feel bright light all
around me. I open my eyes and see the most radiant Swami I have ever seen
approaching with big smile towards me from right hand side. He was in complete
bliss. He comes to me and says, 'Good Boy. I knew you won't fall for him. You don't
seek wealth you seek only me. You cannot be misguided.' End of dream. Anybody
who knows me will vouch I will not lie on Sai.
Having dealt with as many views of mine you may ask me; how then should we
safeguard ourselves from the lower spirits and practitioners like Madhu and
their ilk? How then can we avoid being a vehicle to these disembodied spirits and
influences and move towards the spiritual path? For those who care to hear and
assimilate there is always our Sai to answer.
NAMASMARANA – OUR SAVIOUR
It is very simple. Our Sai's simple Life and Teachings are available in abundance
for our self-emancipation. That is why Our Lord Sai has been saying all His life: '
Bhaja Govindam Bhaja Govindam’. The name of the Lord is the Kavacha or shield
against these undesirable influences. Many a time we have ourselves observed our
actions and said, ' How come I did this, or how come I lost control', haven't we?
The continuous recitation of the Lord's name helps us overcome such lack of
control over our actions. Or else we will be surrendering our body and mind to be
used and abused by these entities.
Sai messages are profound yet simple when He says, Love All, Serve All ' and all
the while do Namasmarana. All His Avataric life He essentially and continually said
the above. Why? Why didn't He ever venture into higher discourses about yoga,
kundalini and sadhana except for references here and there? Because Samadhi is
the eighth and final step of Astanga Yoga. The First is Yama and Niyama, the basic
cleanliness, the trikarana shuddhi or purification of body, mind and thereby of the
soul. There are no spiritual achievements without this basic discipline or
Sadhana, the sadhana of purity. Like a video game spiritual achievements are
always unlocked none can go to next level without dealing with the preceding level
which brought you to the current level and mastering the current level
automatically moves you to another level. You arrive there, you are never taken
there, you can never jump there.
Swami says:
Promote love in your hearts, and share it with others. That is the best form
of worship. Love is the only property of Sai. My life is love. That is what I
offer to one and all. I go on giving, giving. But to what extent are you putting
into practice Swami’s teachings? Practice silence for at least ten minutes in a
day. Meditate on Swami’s teachings at that time. Realise that in this
transient world the Eternal is immanent. Hold fast onto God. Experience the
bliss of union with the Divine. Make love your life-breath. With love of God in
their hearts the ancient sages could transform even the wild animals in the
forests.
(SSS 29.11)
Love all and purify yourself, Serve All and purify yourself. Help ever and purify
yourself, Hurt Never and Purify yourself. Do Namasmarana while you do these
actions and make it a more powerful Sadhana. Swami says Namasmarana is the
panacea for all ills in Kali age:
There is nothing greater than the chanting of the Divine Name in this Kali
Age. This is the best medicine for all worldly ills. Meditation, sacrifice, and
worship are prescribed as the primary means of liberation in the Krita, Treta
and Dwapara Yugas, respectively. Namasmarana (remembrance of the name) is
the easiest path to liberation in this Kali Yuga. Therefore, people born in this
yuga are more fortunate than those who lived in the other three Yugas.
(Divine Discourse 12th July 1996)
"My Body, like all other bodies, is a temporary habitation; but My power is
eternal, all pervasive, everlasting! This body has been assumed, to serve a
purpose: the establishment of Dharma and the teaching of Dharma. When that
purpose is over, this Body will disappear, like the bubble on the waters."
(SSS 10:39)
Swami is unequivocally saying above that His Mission would be over by the time of
His body's disappearance. For those of us who may have doubts due to His sudden
departure, let's be steady in our faith and believe in His assurance that
His mission is still unfolding. His mission is not being completed by the likes of
Madhu. Swami planted the seeds and saw it become a tree. This tree will
eventually bear Divine fruits as is His Sankalpa. Madhu is just a mere monkey,
sitting on a branch and trying to shake the unripe fruits. Like the sevadal monkey
boys in Trayee Brindavan who were engaged to chase off disturbing monkeys in the
premises, it becomes our duty too to chase away the Madhu monkey masquerading
as Lord Hanuman on God's mission. This monkey is not the fulfiller of the Sai
mission, he is just a nuisance to the Sai mission. Swami's Sankalpa is the fulfiller
of the Sai Mission. With that Sankalpa He became Sathya Sai. Now as the
Omnipresent Lord He will continue His Sankalpa and NOT by possessing Madhu.
In 2006 Swami Himself said His Mission is completed:
"My mission is already accomplished. I’m only letting it unfold before your
eyes." (Sathya Sai Baba, quoted on
http://media.radiosai.org/sai_inspires/2006/SI_20060730.htm)
Now lets us compare the extreme differences between Swami's declarations and
Madhusudan’s hilarious claims.
In the recent discourses swami (i.e. 'Sukshma Baba') has categorically said that
only 20% of his mission was completed in the physical form and the remaining 80%
of his mission would be completed in his Sukshma Rupam (Subtle form) in 11 years.
(Bharani Prasad, http://childrenforsathyasai.org/blog/god-is-in-the-small-things/)
If the above claim is not hilarious then it must at least be insulting, humiliating,
degrading, disparaging, call it what you may, isn’t it? Isn’t Madhusudan overdoing
himself or letting his megalomaniac ego boast way too much when he claims that 80
percent of Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba's Avataric Mission will be completed only
through him and that Sai's life toil and pain for 85 years amounted to only 20
percent? What horrendous insolence, gall, cheek, nerve, impudence, temerity,
effrontery, brashness, presumption, and arrogance that is!
All Avatars only leave their bodies after completing their missions and they
decide their own course of departure. Most Avatars left in pain like our Sai.
Jesus was crucified. Sri Ramana Maharshi and Sri Ramakrishna left with cancer.
Lord Krishna was hit by hunter’s arrow. Lord Rama apparently left in sorrow of
dear Lakshmana's departure and merged into Saryu river as done by Lakshmana.
Sai's sudden departure was confusing and extremely painful to all of us. Many were
left thinking what was His Avatarhood all about, what did He even accomplish in
this drastically failing world? Did Sai do enough for us then? As a 40 year old
single guy with minimum source of income and equally minimum sense of spirituality,
almost institutionalized in Puttaparthi it looked a pretty hopeless state of affairs
and dejection for our lot. But then Sai's benedictions are not limited to His
Physical Body. My first thought on seeing His Body in Yajur Mandir was a very vital
reminiscence. A recollection of what He told us that even His Physical Form is a
hindrance to deeper spirituality and that it must be transcended. As I saw Him in
that state a sudden question popped in my mind and heart. "My God and Guru has
left Physically, how should I take it? This leaving of the body is the last Physical
act of my God and Guru, how must I react to this?" My heart then answered that
not accepting this last physical act of my own God and Guru would be the greatest
Guru droham (betrayal of the guru) and mistake of my life. Suddenly a great calm
descended on me and my whole mind, body and heart kept saying 'Perfect, Perfect,
Perfect, this is how an Avatar leaves allowing us the time and situation to discover
Him in us'. That, my friends is what He meant when He said His Mission will unfold.
His Mission has to unfold within us. His Mission is not external one of building
schools and hospitals. His mission which is unfolding is all of us finding Sai
within us.
I remember at the same time that Madhusudhan appeared and started claiming
that the coffin should be left open because Swami will come back to life therein.
Many came and told me Madhu is saying Swami will resurrect within 3 days. My
answer was " What nonsense! Do you even know Swami at all? Do you know His great
Divine dignity as Sathya Sai Baba? Once I saw Him bleed from his nose in Bhajan
hall. He gently wiped it with His arm, disguising the action as if He was using His
arm to wipe His face. But I saw it and He gave me a gentle smile and then, despite
what He was going through, He stayed till Aarati. That is His ability and dignity. If
He came to Kulwant Hall lying in a coffin, it is because He has left His body. Or
else He would never ever come that way in front of we mortals. That is Swami for
you." Even other elders and near ones were furious at such claims of Madhu.
Needless to say, Madhu was nowhere to be seen on the third day.
Well, Sai enacted the drama for His departure - nobody else. Who are we to assign
reasons for His departure? During His entire life and in many discourses Swami
unequivocally said that illness cannot even approach Him. Once when He was
injured He declared:
"The body is subject to the laws of Nature. When anything happens in the
course of Nature, the Divine can face it by self-control. The ordinary devotee
cannot do so. I have to control whatever happens to me. This is My example
to the world. This kind of equanimity cannot be felt by anyone except the
Divine. There is nothing beyond the power of the Divine. Although there was
excruciating pain on account of the injury, through self-control My mind did
not think about it." (XXI, 23:186-187)
The Muddenahalli folks have not merely conducted business using Sai's life but
essentially, disgustingly and unimaginably conducted business using our Sai's
death. Madhu and his propaganda machine claim Sai's illness and incomplete
mission made Him return in a subtle body and move to Muddenahalli? Who can stop
the Divine or force Him to move? Why would he move at all? What about Sai words
to His Mother and promise therein:
“I will never leave Puttaparthi under any circumstances. I will stay here only.
I will just visit My devotees and come back.” … Since I made a promise to
Easwaramma that day, I did not leave Puttaparthi till today. Whoever he may
be, one has to come to this place only. The question of My staying elsewhere
does not arise at all! Today, several people are leaving their native places.
One should never leave his native place. That is the motto of this Avathar".
His Story as told by Himself, pp.177-178).
The claimed subtle body is a pathetic con that takes one away altogether to a cult
which is far away from Sai's word and Sai's world. Isn’t His Life, Teaching and
Works His physical availability after His bodily departure? Why do we grossly
neglect them to fall into Madhusudan's subtle trap? As much as Sai has warned
against mediums He has also warned against forming of cult in His name and
leaving the Sai Organizations:
"All of you should take a vow to continue developing this Service Organization.
… People who have gone away from this organization are the unfortunate
ones. Do not become an unfortunate one. Come what may, do not give up this
Service Organization. Consider it as your very life's breath and do this with
real determination. This is what I desire."
THAT FEELING OF SUPERIORITY PROPAGATED BY THE SUBTLE
FOLLOWERS
Now the subtle body cult in Muddenahalli claim themselves to be the supreme
center of Spiritual learnings and blessedness, degrading Sai's Prashanthi Nilayam
as being merely a spiritual primary school which again negates the following words
of Our Sai:
"Prashanthi Nilayam is the spiritually uplifting center for the whole world."
(Seva a Flower at His Feet page 185).
The sense of pride and obnoxiousness of being the chosen and blessed few is so
ingrained in the Muddenahalli followers due to various myths and lies propagated by
the medium, that they even begin to look down at devotees paying obeisance to
Swami's Mahasamadhi as being unfortunate ones, unbeckoned by Madhusudan's
subtle call. But for Sai there is no chosen and unchosen one. He came for the
emancipation of everyone including those who did not recognize Him or even those
who condemned Him. In the Christmas discourse of 1989 Swamy says:
"God has no distinctions such as the favored and the excluded. Different
persons, proceeding from their own likes and dislikes, attribute to the Divine
the differences existing in their own minds. God has no feelings of difference
such as the good and the bad, the likable and the unwanted, the wicked and
the virtuous. The sandalwood tree imparts its fragrance even to the axe that
fells it. Likewise, God is ever prepared to love, foster and protect equally
everyone without any distinction. But narrow-minded persons cannot easily
grasp the Divine's equal-mindedness. Indeed, how can a fishmonger know the
value of diamonds? Everyone apprehends God's powers and attributes according
to his own limited conceptions and experiences.".
As if the exclusiveness and superiority of the Subtle mentor and followers were
not enough, Madhusudan now even resorts to using fear tactics implying that those
who don't believe in him will perish. He threatens that those who don't understand
or come to the Subtle " either they will destroy themselves or nature will
destroy them" attributing an extreme sense of favouritism to the Divine. These
threats again go against the basic assurance of Our Sai to all beings when He
clearly declares:
"The meaning of Avatar (Divine Incarnation) is this: to save mankind, God out
of His love, comes down to the level of man and arouses the Divine
Consciousness in man." (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 14, p. 386 - Christmas Eve,
1980)
"Be assured that the Lord has come to save world from calamity." (Sathya Sai
Speaks Vol. 2, p. 17 - March 1961)
"In this Avatar, the wicked will not be destroyed; they will be corrected and
reformed and educated and led back to the path from which they have
strayed." (SSS 1.2).
Swamy told Dr. Hislop that there are no impending catastrophes by saying:
There may be some peak waves, as I mentioned but the world will be happy,
peaceful, and prosperous. (Conversations with Sathya Sai, page172).
In those words, and assurances of Sai we can feel His abundant love for one and all
and His Sankalpa of bestowing peace, prosperity and emancipation to one and all,
unlike the Subtle whose philosophy borders around vengeance and destruction of
unworthy and unbelieving.
The subtle phenomenon is verily the antithesis of Our Sai's Love, Life and Message
even as they try to imitate His actions and projects while trampling His essential
spirit and guidance. Most of the overzealous messages of Madhusudan's claimed
Subtle phenomenon can be countered by Sai's words, spoken in His lifetime. But to
the over assuming Subtle followers, Sai's life and Message have become mere
footnotes. The Subtle phenomenon darkens their minds like an eclipse blocking the
Sun. They may do very well to revisit our Sai's following proclamation:
"Unfortunately, none has been able to realize My true nature. They pretend
to have understood My mind, but none could comprehend it in the least. They
look to the outward manifestations only. They talk of My programmes and
activities in the outside world only. They are unable to realise My divine love
at all, which flows from the depths of My heart. "(SSS 41.18)
OVER ASSUMING AND OVER LOOKING THE HOLY TEACHINGS AND
MAHASAMADHI
Where are we running due to over assumptions, overlooking His simple life and
message and thereby unnecessarily complicating our lives and spiritual progress?
Why not stay within the simplicity of His lucid teaching? Sai is never insufficient,
He has already bestowed on us more than what we deserve. A pure thought of
God bestows emancipation, a vision of God bestows blissful Bhakti, a word of God
gives pristine wisdom. What greater arrogance, ingratitude and blasphemy can
there be than to say that the 85 years of His Life and Teachings weren't good
enough!
The whole world may make a bee line to Muddenahalli. It will never bother
me. I have written all this long note on my mobile since my computer is broken. It
is really painful work to do, as you can imagine, all this writing and trying to speak
to people on events that has nil effect on me. I have also come to social media
primarily because I saw two or three people relentlessly defending the gates of
Puttaparthi. I am essentially here to support their labour of love. As a Sai student
and a devotee in whatever little sense, I cannot and will not run away from this
duty wherein I may even be able support these Sai warriors or to help even
one person who may care to hear or be saved from the subtle body snares. My
Sai prods me to do these little duties of life. Left to me as I said, even if the
whole world goes to Muddenahalli, any one taking detour to Puttaparthi will find me
near the Ganesha gates, with facilities for food and stay arranged, and of course
Swami's beautiful Mahasamadhi with lovely fresh flowers and garlands.
The Mahasamadhi or Sai Sannidhi Mandir for us is not mere stone, it has the body
of our Sai in it with His Omnipresent Spirit encompassing the Universe from here.
Where else can I be? Where else would we want to be?
