Philosophy of Education

As a teacher, you need to teach based on what works best for your classroom and your

students. Education is a huge part of a person's life. It opens up multiple career paths, helps

engage you with your peers, and it gives you the knowledge to be safe and healthy. All teachers

have the opportunity to impact their students lives. The reason I want to be a teacher is because

of the rewards that come with it.

I believe that students should be taught more than just the educational subjects in school.

At the end of it all, we are shaping members of society. Teachers are role models to most

children and in order to be a good role model, you must help shaping students into the best

versions of themselves. I don’t think this is more important than the material they should be

learning, but I do think it is a huge part of school.

Hard work is another thing teachers should focus on finding in their students. A work

ethic can go a long way in class. If you work hard at learning, most of the time you will be

successful. A teacher needs to be able to motivate their students to want to learn and want to

improve. In order to do this, you could offer reward systems, make lessons organized, and hold

extra hours after school and encourage to meet one on one with students. As a teacher, you must

be organized and present every lesson neat and orderly. You might not think anyone will notice

how much effort you put into your teaching, but students really do. Personally, I was a big critic

on my teachers. I would compare and contrast teachers who would work hard with teachers who

would slack off. I was more likely to want to do well in classes where the teacher was very

organized and put effort into her job. When a teacher would noticably slack off, I would feel
little to no motivation in the class. These attitudes teachers carry do get passed down to their

students. If you put the work in you will get results from your students.

Liking in a small town and going to school where everyone knew everyone meant that

you need to define a line between friend and authority figure. Growing up, my dad was friends

with all of my teachers at my high school. This meant that they would make plans together and

hang out a lot of the time while I was around the house. I got to know my teachers in a

friendship way. One thing they did well with was establishing how to be friends outside the

classroom and student to teacher inside the classroom. When it came to school, I made sure to

have respect for them as teachers and they did the same for me as a student. This motivated me

even more because if I did anything wrong at school, my dad would be the first one to know. I

wanted to go to college and get good grades in order to be successful. Setting these boundaries

with your students is very important.

Being a teacher would be a great way to see the effect you can have on someones life.

My goals are to be able to help students understand material in a way that works best for them. I

would like to be able to adjust my teaching style to each class depending on the types of students

I have. Another goal I have is to show students math isn’t scary. Most students hear the word

“math” and just give up because they don’t think they will ever be able to undersand it. All you

need to do is break it down for some students more than others. It is possible for everyone, you

just need them to believe its possible as well. Lastly, I would like to be a good teacher. One of

my goals is to be the teacher that everyone wants to learn from because I have the ability to get

information across to them. To me this is one of my biggest goals.

 As a teacher, you are responsible for your students learning, shaping, and succeeding.

This takes hardwork and discipline, but it is possible for any teacher if you put the work in.

Don’t stop until you see success.
