5 Year Plan

My five year plan is quite simple, easy and exciting . After I graduate from high

school this year, I plan on going to Merced Community College to pursue a career in

becoming a financial advisor. My plan is to get my Business Administration transfer

degree and transfer to Stanislaus State University. Once I transfer to Stanislaus State I

plan on majoring in Business Administration. The reason why I am choosing to attend

these schools is pretty common, to save money. Due to my parents income, I didn’t

qualify to receive any financial aid. Therefore, I will go to Merced College my first two

years and I will even receive my first year tuition free paid by the college. After I

complete my first year I will have to start paying for my tuition and books so, I will have

to make time to work and make money.

As of right now, I am working at Rockin Jump trying to save money for college

expenses. However, this job doesn’t give the greatest hours so I average about 16

hours every paycheck. That is obviously very little so I plan on getting a job in the

construction field just for the summer to save more money. I say just for the summer

because once college starts in the fall I wouldn’t be able to work a full time construction

job. So for the summer I will work in construction and once college starts I will apply at

Rockin Jump again. The reason why is because since it isn’t a lot of hours I can work

around my college schedule and still make some money. The times that I would be
available to work would be during the weekends and in the afternoons during the week.

With the money that I earn during the summer and that I continue to earn during

college, I don’t only intent to pay for my tuition but as well as for food, bills, and

entertainment. However, since I am trying to save money and don’t want to struggle

financially my intention is to continue to live with my parents throughout my college

years. I do have my driver’s license and a car so I wouldn’t have to worry about

transportation. Ultimately after I graduate from college, I want to find a career within the

field of my major.

My goal within the five years is to be completely done with college and hopefully

starting or about to start my career. My future career goal is to become a financial

advisor. I plan on achieving this goal by remaining focus, studying, and keeping a

positive mentality. The first step to become a financial planner is to obtain a Bachelor’s

Degree. After college I plan on getting a job similar to a financial planner so I can learn

more about the business. Through this process I will pay attention to the job to see if

this is what I actually want to do as my career or look for a different type of job in the

Business Administration field.

I personally believe that I would need more on the job training to become a

financial planner. I would like to gain more experience throughout the areas of

becoming the best financial planner. Therefore, I don’t see myself becoming a financial
planner right after I graduate I see it more once I gain experience and training in that

specific field. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and hopefully it goes as planned.
