LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. Change the underlined words into abbreviations.
2. Complete a blank email template with suitable
words and details.

ACTIVITIES : 1. Pupils complete the handout given by the
i)PRE-LESSON teacher on abbreviations.
Task A
1. Pupils need to read the sentences in the handout
given by the teacher.
2. By referring to the previous handout pupils need
to change the underlined words into abbreviations.
ii)LESSON DEVELOPMENT Task B
1. Teacher asks pupils to read the writing task in
Section B page 14.
2. In groups, pupils will answer the three questions.
3. The representatives from each group will write
the answers on the whiteboard.
Task C
1. Teacher asks pupil to read the example email in
Section C.
2. Pupils need to identify the abbreviations in the
email by underlining them.
3. Teacher will ask volunteers to underline the
abbreviations on the mahjong paper in front.
Task D
1. Pupils read the example email again.
2. In groups, pupils need to tick the things the
writer has included in the email.
3. Teacher handles the classroom discussion using
the Thumbs Up Thumbs Down method.
Task E
1. Pupils need to complete task E in group.
2. Teacher asks volunteers to share their answers
by matching the items on the whiteboard.
iii)POST-LESSON 1. Each group will get a blank email template.
2. They need to complete the email by referring to
the previous activity.
3. Pupils share their answer.
4. Teacher summarize the lesson.
