LINGKUP Determines main idea

MATERI
Indikator By presenting a text, students can determine the main idea
Butir Soal Whales are sea-living mammals. They therefore breathe air but cannot
survive on land. Some species are very large indeed and blue whale,
which can exceed 30 cm in length, is the largest animal to have lived on
earth. Superficially, the whale looks rather like a fish, but there are
important differences in its external structure: its tail consists of a pair
of broad, flat, horizontal paddles (the tail of a fish is vertical) and it has
a single nostril on top of its large, broad head. The skin is smooth and
shiny and beneath it lies a layer of fat (blubber). This is up to 30 cm in
thickness and serves to conserve heat and body fluids.
What is the main idea of the text?
a. Whale looks rather like a fish.
b. Whale cannot survive on land.
c. Blue whale is a large animal.
d. Whales are sea living mammals.

The question above is a matter of how to find main ideas in a text, if it is adjusted or matched
with the skl (graduate competency standard) and the indicators above, then the following
example questions are valid, because the questions from the above text immediately ask what the
main idea is, where to know the main idea of a text, the reader must understand the meaning of
the text (in accordance with graduate competency standards).
Students should be able to work on the questions above, because the questions tested are in
accordance with the SKL (graduate competency standards). Depending on the ability of students
to work on the above questions, it is because each student has a different level of intelligence.
If there are students who cannot answer, there are two possibilities. First, when the teacher
explains this material in the learning process students do not pay attention so that when this
question is tested the student cannot do it. Second, the material taught by the teacher during the
learning process is not in accordance with graduate competency standards, so students cannot
work on the problem when tested. It is not in accordance with number eleven, that is, students
are able to interpret the content

LINGKUP Implicit information

MATERI
Indikator By providing a text, students be able to determine the implicit
information in the text correctly
Butir Soal Your body needs energy, protein, vitamins, minerals, and fibre. In order
to get all of these, it is important to have a varied and balanced diet, and
to eat the right amount of food. Your body “burns” to food to energy:
the amount of energy provided by the food is measured in units called
calories.
How many calories do you need? This depends on your weight and on
what you do. When you are asleep, your body nearly uses one calorie an
hour for every kilogram of weight. So a person who weighs sevent kilos
uses about 560 calories while sleeping for eight hours. More calories are
needed for different activities from 100 calories an hour for reading or
watching TV to 350 calories an hour for playing football.
To calculate the number of calories needed per day for an average
person, first find out the ideal weight of the person. Then multiply the
weight by 40 for a woman and 46 for a man. A 60 kilo woman may need
about 2400 calories a day-more if she does heavy physical work and
less if she is very inactive.

“.....more if she does heavy physical work and less if she is very
inactive”

The underlined word means ....

(A) very active
(B) quite active
(C) not active
(C) rather active

The question above requires students' ability to interpret the meaning of a word. Based on
graduation competency standards (SKL) and the indicators outlined above, this question is valid.
SKL and indicators of this question make the target for students to be able to imply the meaning
of a word. To find the implicit meaning, students must understand the implicit or explicit
meaning of the text.
