Client`s aim
To improve your ability to roll over in bed.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying with a pillow behind your back and elbow
splints on your arms. Practice rolling over by rapidly moving your arms
across your body.

To improve your ability to roll over in bed.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your back with splints on your elbows and
your wrists connected together. Practice rolling over by rapidly moving
your arms across your body.

To improve your ability to roll over in bed.

Position yourself lying on your back with a weight around one wrist
and splints on your elbows. Practice rolling over by rapidly moving

Propping back and forth in long sitting
Client`s aim
To improve your ability to prop in long sitting.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself sitting with your legs in front of you. Practice
transferring your weight from in front of your hips to behind your hips
then bringing your weight forwards again.
Precautions
1. Preserve tenodesis grasp.

Elbow flexor strengthening in supine using free weights


Client`s aim
To strengthen your biceps.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your back. Start with your arm down beside
your body. Finish with your hand up near your shoulder. Ensure that
your elbow is held beside your body.

Push-ups in prone
Client`s aim
To strengthen the muscles at the front of your shoulder and chest.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your stomach. Practice doing push-ups
through your hands so that your hips lift up off the bed. Ensure that
your body is kept horizontal.
Precautions
1. Impaired or absent sensation of stretch.

Shoulder retractor strengthening in sitting

To strengthen the muscles at the back of your shoulder.
Client`s instructions

Thoracic spine and upper-chest stretch
Client`s aim
To stretch or maintain range in your trunk and chest muscles.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your back with a rolled-up towel underneath
the length of your upper spine.
Precautions
1. Impaired or absent sensation of stretch.

Trunk and spine stretch in supine


Client`s aim
To stretch or maintain range in your spine.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your back with your shoulders on the bed
and your pelvis and legs rotated to one side. Place a weight on the
top of your knees.

Transferring weight between elbows in prone


Client`s aim
To improve your ability to move from lying to sitting.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your stomach with your weight borne
through your elbows. Practice shifting your weight from one elbow
across onto your other elbow.
Precautions
1. Maintain the integrity of the skin over elbows. Can use elbow pads
for this purpose.

Shoulder abductor strengthening in supine using theraband
Client`s aim
To strengthen the muscles at the side and top of your shoulder.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your back. Adjust the theraband so that the
direction of pull is from the bottom of the bed. Start with your arm
beside your body. Finish with your arm away from your body. Ensure
that you keep your elbow straight.

Hip flexor stretch in supine by holding onto knee

To stretch or maintain range in your hip.
Client`s instructions
Position yourself lying on your back with one knee on your chest.
Precautions

Hip flexor stretch in prone through lifting up onto elbows

To stretch or maintain range in your hips and trunk.

supported through your elbows.
