SECOND TERM 1

ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENTS LIST / FIRST GRADE

Listening and speaking,


To listen carefully and respond appropriately, extending experiences and ideas through role-
plays and short expositions.
Reading and Writing
To demonstrate comprehension by reading and identifying important ideas in paragraphs,
tales and short narrative stories, and writing descriptions of two or three sentences with
connectors.
INDICATORS
COGNITIVE:
1. Identifies the family members, house hold objects, the places in a map and occupations to ask, write
or complete sentences.
2. Identifies the personal pronouns, the possessive nouns the verb phrases: is there, there is and there
isn’t to develop oral and written activities.
3. Uses the verbs do/ does and the phrases: want to be / and wants to be to converse audibly with
friends, teachers and other adults.
4. Learns the different ways in which vowels and consonants can be pronounced, e.g. how, low; apple,
apron.
5. Apply knowledge of phonemes and spelling patterns in writing independently
EXPRESSIVE:
6. Talks about house hold objects, family members using the vocabulary related to the topics.
AFFECTIVE:
7. Participates in guided reading situations, observing and applying reading behaviors and
interacting with the group.

SECOND TERM
ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENTS LIST / SECOND GRADE
Listening and speaking,
To understand and express his/her opinions and ideas supporting them orally and listening for
clues to complete activities according to the information given.
Reading and writing
To scan a story, paragraph or text to find specific information and write short paragraphs of
three or four sentences using the grammar, vocabulary and topics studied
INDICATORS

COGNITIVE:
1. Identifies the adverbs of frequency and talks about how often people do things.
2. Talks about chores and other activities people do.
3. Asks and answers questions about where animals live and the things they can and can’t do.
4. talks about animals’ abilities and their habitats
5. Talks about the weather yesterday and today applying the verb to be in present and past.
6. Writes title sentences and topic sentences for a paragraph about an animal and favorite
season.
7. Identifies irregular forms of common verbs.
8. Learns rules for adding -ing, -ed, -s to verbs.
9. Recognizes the vocabulary related to animals, chores and weather conditions properly
EXPRESSIVE:
10. Talks with good pronunciation and intonation when she/he is reading or talking.
AFFECTIVE:
11. Predicts and infers content from illustrations about animals, weather and chores.
