Overview – explanation of the content of the unit and how it explores the Salvation Topic and development of the Human Person
The purpose of Step A is to assist the development of students’ religious awareness. It aims to help them understand the religious
meaning of significant experiences – an essential step for both Evangelisation and New.
The students should be provided with opportunities to wonder and the need to celebrate the related attribute of God
Step B is about how Jesus offers salvation by modelling how to live in a truly human way. Christians can do this by being enabled to
live by the power of the Kingdom of God to the extent that they draw upon this power through the Eucharist, the other sacraments,
prayer and the other ways Jesus taught.
One element of the modelling of Jesus was that he belonged to a family and started the special family of God called the Church
(B1, B2).
The purpose of Step B is to show Jesus as the model of truly human behaviour, and then to focus upon how the world of the
students’ experience would be different if all accepted his promise.
Religious Education contributes to their New Evangelisation by helping students to understand what is involved in repenting and
believing. In section C the students’ needs to help students discover ‘what exactly faith in Jesus Christ is’ through:

Teacher witness:
My Family is intertwined and very involved in each other’s lives through things such as going to watch each other’s sporting event (Netball,
Basketball, baseball, Hockey), Family holidays/ celebrations and weekly family dinners. We have constant input in my immediate family’s sport
through things such as umpiring, financial support, coaching or simply being a supporter. While also supporting my extended families sport by
occasionally being a supporter at their games.
As an extended family we have yearly celebrations and holidays together such as heading down to Pemberton every Easter or Staying on
Christmas eve at a family’s members house and going on yearly holidays down south or over east. For everyone’s birthday we always meet up
and celebrate as close to their birthday as possible.
My Family is close and when anyone goes off track we all pull together to guide them back on track.
I bring my personal Family experience to this unit and know exactly how it feels to be part of a bigger whole and always welcome new
members into the family.
