Brief description
This HSB describes the update procedure for the new main PCB with cable as well as the installation
process of operating software WinCE 6.0 / User software V6.1e

Necessary Tools / Software / Hardware

- Latest user software (starting with revision 6.0)

Instruction / Procedure
1. Switch of the HumaReader HS and disconnect all cables, otherwise the interfaces at the back side
can be damaged during the disassembly.
2. Turn the instrument upside down.
3. Remove the three fixing screws at the front bottom side using a cross screwdriver and lift the top
cover up to get inside the instrument, as shown in figures 1 and 2.

4. Remove the four fixing screws and remove the old main PCB.

5. Install the new PCB and fix the screws. Then reconnect all wires.

 Installation of operating system WinCE 6.0.

6. Insert the SD card (storage capacity must be less than 2G) to the PC and format it to ‘FAT32’ files
system.

7. Copy the following 5 files to the root directory of SD card. (NK.bin means A8 system file)

8. Connect PC and instrument with a RS-232 serial cable and insert the SD card to the slot at the
back of the instrument, but leave the instrument turned OFF.
9. Start the application “DNW” on the PC.

 10. Open ‘Configuration’ and choose ‘Options’.
11. Change the ‘Baude Rate’ to 115200 and set the COM Port according to the settings in the
device manager.
For the right com port, click the right mouse on“My computer”, choose “Properties” and
openthe “Device Manager”. The com port” is listed under ‘Port’.

12. Press OK.

13. Select “Serial ports” in the menu bar und start the communication by pressing “Connect”.

14. Switch on the HumaReader HS and press the ‘space’ key on the keyboard within 3 seconds
after “Hit space to enter configuration menu” is shown on the screen.
A list of options appear.

 15. System upgrade is done when you finish all above steps then restart to complete updating.
16. NOW Save the system software RT2100.exe to your SD card or USB flash drive

Note: It is recommended to use an SD card to perform the upgrade;

Do not change the software name ‘RT2100.exe’; otherwise the system can’t recognize
the software.

17. Out of the setting file V1.2 copy and paste the database global.dat to your SD card or USB
flash drive. This will be continued in step 45 here in this HSB.
18. Insert the USB flash drive or SD card into the appropriate port/slot on the back of the
instrument, connect a USB mouse and turn the instrument on!

19. Enter the Manufacturer menu by pressing the left mouse several times on the top right
corner of the main menu.

 20. In manufacturer settings, enter ‘Explorer’ to open the WindowCE interface.

21. Press Exit to close the window and return to the main menu.

 22. Click ‘Power OFF!’ and close the running operating software.

Note: The operating software needs to be closed first. Otherwise the installation will fail.

23. A new Window opens. Click the right mouse on the blank frame and confirm to power
off the system by pressing ‘YES’.

24. Double click on ‘My Device’

 Note:
If the USB flash drive is not detected, the folder ‘Hard Disk’ will not be displayed in ‘My computer’
In this case, insert the USB flash drive into the second USB port. If the flash drive is still not detected,
use an SD card instead. Then Look for the Folder ‘Storage Card’.

25. Open the folder ‘Storage Card’ or ‘Hard Disk’ and make a Copy of the software file
‘RT2100’

 26. Go back to “Resident Flash” folder, ‘Select All’ files inside and ‘Delete’ them!

27. The following warnings will appear. Confirm the process twice by pressing ‘Yes’ and
‘Yes to All’.

 28. Now that the folder is empty, click the right mouse and ‘Paste’ the HumaReader HS
software ‘RT2100’.
29. Close the folder of ‘Resident Flash’ and go back to the main menu.
30. Click ‘Start’ and ‘Suspend’ to close the operating system WindowsCE.

The screen becomes blue.

31. Switch off the instrument immediately.

32. Wait 2 minutes and swith ON again.
33. On the main screen click on HUMAN and verify the software version is 6.0e
(depending to language e, s, r, f) has been installed!

 34. Enter the Backdoor again (see step 19).
35. Click Flash user area (to clean up patient results)

36. Select, ‘History plate data’ and press ‘Clear’

 37. Also clear “History patient data” and “History sample data”.
38. Exit the User area.

39. Select ‚Item reset‘

40. Press ‘Yes’ to reset all items (now all new features will be available)

 41. Click on ‘User param’ to enter Serial Number, click to the ID setting.

42. Enter the Serial number from the label on the back of the Instrument and Press OK

43. Click on Exit to leave User Param

 44. Enter System menu

45. Enter Touch Panel to re-calibrate touch screen and follow the commands on the
display. Confirm by pressing Yes.

46. Press Import

 47. Press Ipmort Programs depending to the momory device (SD card or USB flash drive)
Now the database ‘’global.dat’’ will to be imported as mentioned in step 14.

48. Press Ok to leave import.

49. Enter the hospital name for future print outs.

50. Press Exit to leave to main menu.

51. Enter programs to ensure the import process was done properly and (Rev 1.2 Settimg)

52. Press Exit, finish Update
