JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Accountant Payroll

Department : Finance

Reports to : Management Accountant

Main purpose of post : To effect payment of salaries. To


maintain salaries and payment ledgers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or similar qualification with two


years experience.

KEY OUTPUTS OF POST

OUTPUT : Maintained salaries ledgers

DEFINITION : Enters details of salaries, deductions, and other


payments into appropriate ledger, reconciles in order to
ensure accurate maintained ledger.

OUTPUT : Statutory payments

DEFINITION : Compiles monthly and annual statutory payments,


reconciles and enters in to appropriate ledger, compiles
cheques, obtains signature and ensures payment.

OUTPUT : Compiles paid out salaries

DEFINITION : Compiles pay cheques in accordance with schedule,


obtains signatures, compiles salary slips, distributes in
order to effect salary payments

OUTPUT : Resolved problems

DEFINITION : Recalculates salaries, etc, deductions, if necessary and


reissues cheques in order to ensure accurate salary pay
out.

OUTPUT : Assisted audits

DEFINITION : Assists internal and external auditors with examination of


salaries accounts.
