Abstract: This article analyzes hydrometallurgical processes for the treatment of gold
refractory minerals and describes their advantages and specific applications. Also, three
processes for the treatment of gold refractory minerals are shown: hydro chemical
oxidation or atmospheric oxidation in acid or alkaline medium, biological or biochemical
oxidation, and oxidation under high temperature pressure which is in acid or alkaline
medium. In the process of chemical oxidation the chlorination is more used for
carbonaceous minerals than for pyritic minerals, since these require conditions of strong
or severe oxidation. In the process of biological oxidation the bioleaching occurs the
release of the metal from the mineral matrix without requiring complete oxidation of the
same. Also in the process of oxidation under pressure offers a great ease of handling
and treatment of impurities and, therefore, less environmental impact; this pressure
oxidation has become the best alternative for the oxidation of refractory minerals.
