NE-Software (MIB) Backup & Upload procedures

Procedure for NE MIB Backup from NMS:

At the Node view, click the: "Supervision  Simulator  Align Up"

This operation will backup the NE configuration, MIB, to the server. To find out if it was
successful, pls check for the following files in the server.

The files are location find out where the files are stored on server, on a terminal window do the
following:

The node may be supervised either by NM1 or NM2. Do the following at their respective NM.

In case of doing it from NM, the following are the respective locations:

fnsh01:/usr/Systems/<1353NM_1-7.0>/PNM/script $ dbread |grep GLSCH

If the above does not give any output then check on NM2 as follows.

fnsh02:/usr/Systems/<1353NM_2-7.0>/PNM/script $ dbread |grep GLSCH

Output:
110 GLSCH:GLN-GLN-AC-25-R05 ne1640fox 4.2.B 395250102FFFFFFFFFFFFFF1125512836772011D FNSH01_1 0
50 supervised

Where
110  EML number
GLSCH:GLN-GLN-AC-25-R05  Node name that was backed up
4.2.B version
FNSH01_1  1353SH01_1 (which is NM1, for NM2 it will be FNSH02_1)
50  Uxx folder number

The files are saved in 1353NM. To confirm the files are saved in the corresponding 1353NM do
the following:

PS: In SingTel environment, the NE’s that have their EML numbers 100 and above but less than
200 are in NM1. While, those NE’s that have the EML numbers 200 and above but less than 300
are in NM2.

In this case the NE is in NM1

Login to the respective NM with username and password provided.

Navigate to the following location,

fnsh01$ cd /usr/Systems/<1353NM_1-7.0>/swdl/swdlserv/data/<EML>/U<xx>

Substitute the EML and xx numbers from the previous output.

Eg: fnsh01$ cd /usr/Systems/<1353NM_1-7.0>/swdl/swdlserv/data/110/U50

Check for the existence of the above mentioned MIB files. Do check the time stamp at which
these files are created.

fnsh01$ ls -al

backup.dsc
config.dsc
dbver.txt

If not existed, redo the backup.

ftp the “backup files” (NE MIB ) of the NE to the local terminal/PC.

Backup.zip Config.dsc Dbver.txt

Procedure for loading a backup MIB to an NE:

The following procedure assumes that the NE is powered up, in working condition and can be
managed by LCT.

Step 1: Connect the Notebook (LCT) to the NE via the serial cable. Interface cable to the
node and LCT is a 9-pin serial cable. Launch the LCT software from the notebook/PC.
Note: LCT version differs with OMSN software version.

Step 2: In the current working condition of NE, LCT should be able to manage the NE. From
LCT – start supervising the node.

Step 3: Do MIB backup from the LCT.

From the Equipment view, got to Download  MIB management

Step 4: Locate the backup file in the LCT PC. These files are written under
FTservices\data\directories.

Eg: C:\ALCATEL\CT-Kv3.0.3\FTservices\data\1\B202_2
Navigate to the correct directory.

This location contains three files: 1/. Backup.zip, 2/. Backup.dsc 3/. Userlbl.txt

The userlbl.txt file will contain the “B ackup Name” that you provided above in Step 1.

Step 5: Move the files other than text file to a temp directory. Copy the MIB files from NM
server to this directory. Rename the config.dsc to backup.dsc

Step 6: From LCT, open NE MIB management window, key in the “Backup Name” from
Step 1, and click on Restore button, followed by Activate button.

The LCT experience Node comm. failure for a brief moment and is restored.

Step 7: Check the node MIB contents by navigating to its NAME, LOCATION etc on LCT.
Also verify the node configuration details in the equipment view from LCT.
