Learning Plan: Instructional Strategies /Lesson Activity: (Identify your CFAs and CITW strategies in your plan)
Anticipatory Set:

Review/Introduce. Review prior knowledge and skills from previous school year level. Assess and evaluate pre-
requisite skills that students are required to have before beginning the first chapter. Apply math drills to enhance and
build up math skills. Begin with an introduction to algebra and making connections of real-life situations to algebra. Give
real world examples: relationships with numbers, finding heights, volume of a glass, waves, etc.

Engaging the student in learning the content:

Students will be expected to be prepared for class, participate in class activities and actively engage in class
discussion. Students will normally turn in written assignment (Practice Homework) at the end of each lesson.

Day 1-6 Skills Check and Skills Assessments

Assessment of prior knowledge and skills learned from previous school year.
Fractions: All operations of fractions, 1 day each for addition, subtraction, division, and subtraction.
Reducing fractions and converting fractions.
Decimals: All operations of decimals, 1 day for addition/subtraction, 1 day for multiplication, and 1
day for division. Converting decimal to fractions and fractions to decimals 1 day.
Day 7-8 L1.1 Connections to Algebra
Goals: Evaluating a variable expression and write a variable expression that models in a real-life
situation.
Key Terms:
• Variables, values, variable expression, evaluation the expression, unit analysis, verbal model
