This document details the operational status of the worker-based factory Shasha Garments Ltd.
including its potential, opportunities and challenges. This information is potential for apparel buyers

Implement the production capacity that places 13000 pieces of garments per month in U.S and Europe.
After set up 3 more sewing line (by August 2019) it will be 260000 pieces per month.

Accessibility :
Shasha Garments Limited is housed in a 120000Sft. Of an industrial complex. It exits directly on to Dhaka
EPZ road. Distance from the International Airport just 45 min. drive away. This location is very accessible
for transportation of merchandise, equipment and raw materials into and out of the factory.
Human Resources :
Factory personnel are qualified in the creation of high-quality garments using woven cloth, including a
variety of styles such as women’s and Girls dresses, All shorts of pants, Jackets, Bermuda, Shortfall,
Overalls, Ladies and Girls Blouses etc. The cutting department employs personnel who have been
trained with the precision necessary to size and cut material, some who have more than 10 years
experience in this field.
Shasha Garments Limited is the organic garment plant in Bangladesh that has a cooperation and
mutually beneficial relationship with independent work forces.

acceptance. When it initiated operations, Commercial relationships have been consolidating with the
reputed buyers.
Shasha garments Limited has employed between 750 working peoples depending on the volume and
consistency of orders. It will be around 1100 by the end of August for increasing 3 new sewing lines.

base their production model on keeping product costs as low as possible.

CSR: Work place Environment –
Shasha Garments Limited believes that a congenial work environment increases efficiency and
motivates employees to deliver their best.
The use of electrical installations, Overhead lamps, forced duct ventilation and generous spacing
between equipment makes the production floor comfortable to work in and aesthetically appealing.
Routes to be use in emergency along with fire safety equipment like fire hydrants and smoke and fire
detectors ensure the safety of the workers.
Faucets with safe drinking water and hygienic toilets are provided in adequate numbers and positioned
for easy access of all workers. There are separately designated toilets for female and male workers.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a part that not only important for sustainable business growth
but also important to ensure worker rights, benefits & opportunities by concerning the natural
environment. Regarding to organizational development CSR always meet up all social responsibilities,
idea sharing & co-operate to the legal authority. We the people of CSR try to define our company’s
current position and attitude towards CSR related matters.
CSR is about achieving organizational excellence in ways that honor ethical values and respect people,
communities and the natural environment. We believe that CSR encompasses 3 most important topics
in broad perspective.

SHASHA DENIMS LTD. is the leading denim manufacturing in Bangladesh. Our manufacturing plant in
located in the savar Export Processing Zone. Shasha has been the first denim manufacturing plant in the
world to integrate the latest BEN INDIGO dying ranges with BEN-LINK technology from BENNINGER, the
leading manufacturing of denim dyeing ranges. We also use Ben Direct Warping machine with Ben-Vac
and Ben-V-Creel.
For weaving we use 84 picanol Airjet ; 40 Sulzer and 36 Rapier looms with 22 frame dobby with six color
selection. For the finishing line, we use Monforts and Sperotto Rimar SRL machines. To give us more
options we have integrated Dhalls mercerizing machine into our production line. To ensure
uninterrupted power supply we have our own captive power plant within the factory which uses
Guascor and Waukesha generators. To ensure our factory is environmentally compliant we also have an
Effluent Treatment Plant.
We are a professionally managed organization with a workforce of 600 people with a production
capacity of 1.8 million yds per month. The machinery and the facilities are equally complemented with
highly motivated and trained, skilled workforce whose dedication and motivation ensure that we deliver
the best quality denim to our clients.
Quality of raw materials is one of the prime factors in producing and achieving good quality denim
fabric. Special emphasis is therefore given to procurement of best quality yarn and chemicals. We use
cotton yarn mainly from the finest yarn producers of Pakistan, India, Thailand and Bangladesh. We use
dyes & chemicals from BASF-Germany, Clariant – Switzerland, Emsland- Germany and Indigo from China.

DIRECTORS’ PROFILES
Mr. Anisul Islam Mahmud was born in 1947 in an illustrious family of Chittagong. His father was late
Serajul Islam Mahmud. His paternal grandfather was Khan Shaheb Abdul Halim Chowdhury and his
maternal grandfather was Dr. Md. Sanaulla, Bar-at-Law, PhD.
Mr. Mahmud obtained his B.A. (Honours) in Economics from Dhaka University in 1969 and M.Sc. in
Economics from Quaide Azam University in Karachi. Mr. Mahmud received a Commonwealth
Scholarship to study at the Essex University, UK, and received an MA in Economics from there in 1972.
He was called to the Bar from Lincolns Inn, London, UK in 1975.
Mr. Mahmud served as a Cabinet Minister from 1984 to 1990. Mr. Mahmud served as the Minister of
Foreign Affairs between 1988 and 1990. Prior to that he served as the Minister of Education in 1988 and
held the additional charge of the Ministry of Irrigation, Water Development and Flood Control. He was
the Minister of Irrigation, Water Development and Flood Control from 1985 to 1988. During this period
he also briefly held the charge of the Ministry of Information. He served as the Minister of Labour and
Manpower in 1985.
Mr. Mahmud was elected to the Parliament of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (Jatiya Sangsad) in
1979, 1986, 1988 and 2008. As a Member of the Parliament, he currently serves as the Chairman of the
Parliamentary Standing Committee for Expatriates Welfare & Overseas Employment.
Mr. Mahmud was a Lecturer of Economics at the Hertfordshire University (UK) from 1973 to 1977. He
was a Senior Research Associate in the Economics Department at the East Anglia University in the UK
from 1972 to 1973. He served as a Lecturer of Economics at Dhaka University from 1969 to 1970.
Mr. Mahmud was the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Control Board from 1989 to 1990. He was also
the President of Bangladesh Flying Club Ltd. from 1987 to 1990.
Mr. Mahmud is the Chairman of Shasha Denims Ltd., and Shasha Garments Ltd.

ZAREEN MAHMUD
Ms. Zareen Mahmud oversees the Finance and Administration Department of the Shasha Garments
Limited. Prior to joining Shasha, she served as the Vice President of Newton International Ltd, a start-up
education and training business. Prior to joining Newton, she was a Manager of Audit & Consulting at
ACNABIN & Co. She had also served as a Financial Management Consultant for the World Bank in
Bangladesh. Ms. Mahmud had started her career in New York where she worked as a Senior Associate at
KPMG in the Corporate Tax Division. She was a Supervising Analyst at the New York City Mayor’s Office
of Management and Budget. She had served as a consultant for the United Nations Capital Development
Fund (UNCDF) in New York.
Ms. Mahmud received her BA in Economics from Smith College and MPA in Public Finance from New
York University in the USA. She qualified as a Certified Public Accountant from the Delaware Board of
Accountancy in the USA. She had also qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.
Ms. Mahmud also served as Director on the boards of Shasha Denims Limited and Energis Power
Corporation Limited.

SHAMS MAHMUD
Mr. Shams Mahmud currently oversees the operations and marketing of the Shasha Garments Ltd. He
has introduced innovative production management, incentive system and marketing approach to the
company.
Mr. Mahmud received an LLB and an LLM from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
His hobbies are playing tennis and squash.
Mr. Mahmud also serves as the Managing Director on the Boards of Shasha Denims Limited and
Chairman on the Board of Energis Power Corporation Limited.
