Dear Parents,

We would like to extend a warm thank you for welcoming us into your child’s classroom. It has been a
sheer pleasure teaching alongside of the wonderful Mrs. Sterchele and gaining classroom experience
by interacting with your children. Our final two weeks here at Hopewell provide us with the
opportunity to give back to you and your children all that we have gleaned and acquired while
spending time in room 1s.
The following two weeks of instruction will focus on the topic of Community Economics which
will be taught by Ms. Tragale and I. We are sending home a graphic organizer of an assignment that
we hope you will complete with your child. It involves your child collaborating with you on either a
shopping list or a shopping trip to gain real world experience with content heavy terms like
producers, consumers, goods and services.
Please assist your child in recording a few of the food and/or beverage purchases that you make
and the prices of a couple items that you are comfortable with sharing. This activity is a major
component of our unit and will serve as a reference point for class discussions to come regarding:
producers & consumers, goods & services, needs & wants, and saving & spending.​ Please have this
take-home task completed and submitted by Friday April 26, 2019.
