Submission Format:

The weekly presentations are expected to be presented professionally, as one would expect in an office
workplace. Students will work in teams and should use PowerPoint (or similar) slides (for role plays you
just need a document listing each team member, their role, and a short explanation of the skit). Slides
and role-play documents must be emailed before the presentation to your lecturer
(John.Andre@isneu.org). See the workshop briefs for more details. Failure to submit slides/role-play
documents before the presentation will result in your workshop score being lowered by one full grade
(for example, from Merit to Pass or from Pass to Referral). Failure to submit slides/role-play documents
before the end of the day of the presentation will result in your workshop score being lowered to
zero/fail.

The submission format of the individual written report is as follows. It should be written in a concise,
formal business style using double spacing and font size 12. You are required to make use of
paragraphs, section headings, etc. as appropriate and all work must be supported with proper research
and referenced using the Harvard referencing system. Please also provide a reference list of all cited
resources using the Harvard referencing system. The word limit is 1,000 to 2,000 words. If you exceed
the word limit (excluding references and administrative sections) your grade will be lowered.

Assignment Brief and Guidance:


Your team has been hired by the Vietnamese government to produce a series of presentations and write
a short report about how a company in Vietnam manages human resources in Vietnam.

This information will be used to help foreign and domestic companies make improve operations here in
Vietnam.

Each weekly workshop presentation will have its own brief, which you should read carefully.
Presentations will be made as a team and should be delivered professionally as if presenting to your
boss at a company. Please see the workshop briefs for more details.

There will also be a single individual presentation about a current news topic. For details, please see the
module syllabus.

There is also an option for extra credit. For each five weekly online quizzes that you complete, one
workshop will be raised by a full grade (for example, from Merit to Distinction or from Pass to Merit).
There will be 11 weekly online quizzes so if you take full advantage, you will be able to improve two of
your workshop grades during the semester. Any indication of academic misconduct (plagiarism, for
example) will eliminate the chance to earn any extra credit.

After all workshop presentations have been delivered, you will have a final report to submit. In this final,
individual, report, you are to answer the following questions about the company you have been
researching this semester:

1. How does the company work well (for example, following best practices)?
2. How could the company improve (consider what would bring the most benefit for the firm)?
3. What does the company most need to worry about in the near future (e.g., upcoming labor market
changes)?
4. Which elements were studied in HRM that relate least to the firm, and why?
5. What do you feel were the most important three points, related to HRM, you learned during the
term? Explain why you feel those were important to you.
6. What do you feel were the most important three things, unrelated to HRM, you learned that will
change the way you learn in the future? Explain why you feel those were important to you.

Your answers to questions 1, 2, and 3 are expected to be supported by proper industry and/or
academic research. Your answers to questions 4, 5, and 6 do not have to be supported by academic
research but you are free to include some. Failure to include proper industry or academic research where
required will require rework and may cause you to fail the module. Failure to submit the final report on time
will prevent you from reworking the report and will cause you to fail the module (rework is only available if
you submitted on time).

There are 13 assessments (11 workshops, 1 news report, and 1 final report). Failure to attempt any
assessment will lower your grade as you will receive a score of zero for missed assessments. To pass this
module, the student must pass at least 10 of these 13 assessments. Workshops missed for any reason
(travel, illness, etc.) cannot be made up. It is up to you to manage your time and health to complete your
assignments properly.
