Crocheted Neck Warmer

Materials:
4-Ply Medium Weight Worsted
Yarn (one or two colors,
totaling one skein)
H Hook (5.00 mm)
F Hook (3.75 mm)
Yarn Needle
1.25” (3 cm) Button
Scissors
Abbreviations:
CH – chain
SC – single crochet
DC – double crochet
FPDC – front post double crochet
BST – back stitch: CH2, SC in front loop of chain 1

Instructions:

Row 1: BST 10

End of Row 1

Row 2: CH3,
(DC in the same chain of next SC, BST) x 9,
2DC in same chain of last SC

Beginning of Row 2 Ending Row 2, approaching last SC

Row 3: CH3, turn,


(FPDC, BST) x 9,
FPDC, DC on top of the same
DC (not the CH3 post)
NOTE: when casting on a new
color, draw the new color
through the last two loops of
the final DC Casting on a new color at the end of Row 3

Rows 4-5:
CH3, turn, (FPDC, BST) x 9,
FPDC, DC on top of the same
DC (not the CH3 post)

Beginning a row with new color

Weaving the Previous color (ColorP)
through two rows of Current color
(ColorC): C
We’re going to weave ColorP
through 3 chains, and a double
crochet. P
The previous tail must weave through
three chains and a DC

Skipping the first chain, insert
the smaller hook through the
spine (the loop behind the V)
of the second chain of ColorC,
draw ColorP through the
spine,

and CH1.

Unhook.
Insert hook into the spine of the third chain of
ColorC, draw in loop of ColorP through the spine,
and CH1.

Unhook.
Insert hook into the first
double loop of the DC, draw in
ColorP,

and CH1.

Unhook.
Insert hook into the second
double loop of the DC, draw
in ColorP and switch to the
larger hook.

Leave the loop of ColorC


(now ColorP for previous) to
weave up after making the
next two rows.

Rows 6-7: CH3, turn, (FPDC,


BST) x 9,
FPDC, DC on top of the same
DC (not the CH3 post)

Repeat from ***** until you have the desired


length (about 50 rows). Weave-in the ends.

Sew the button on the


bottom of the eighth to
the last row (ie, the 4th
to the last stripe).

Fold the scarf over the


button. Insert button
between the 6th and 7th
double crochet.
