What is a compound word?
 A compound word is formed when two or more words are put together to form a new word with a new
meaning.
 It can function as a different part of speech, which can dictate what form the compound takes on.
For example:
carry over is an open compound word when it is used as a verb but it is closed when used as a noun and an
adjective.

This surplus will carry over to next season. (verb)


The extra supplies were part of the carryover from the budget. (noun)

Compounding anak (child) + araw (day/sun) = anak-araw (maputi or albino)
