interpretation of data gathered. The results are organized according to the sub-problems
presented in Chapter I. The presentation is made in tabular and textual forms and logically
The data are presented into 7 headings, namely: (1) Frequency and percentage
of respondents according to the source of ordinance: (3) Public Announcement: (4) Mass
Media: (5) Online Source: (6) Frequency and percentage distribution of respondents
according to the reliability of the sources: (7) solutions offered to improve waste
management practices.
In this section, the profile of the respondents with respect to their sex and area of
specialization are hereby presented. The description was arrived at through frequency
counts and percentage distribution. The data about the sex of the respondents are presented
in Table 1.
The first concern of this study was to determine the profile the respondents for
the month of February to May in the year 2019. The description was arrived through
frequency
Knowledge about the Ordinance
The first concern of this study was to determine the LMT in College Physics for
the last five years from the 1st Semester, A.Y. 2008-2009 to the 1st Semester, A.Y. 2012-
2013 at the PSU-BC based on the frequency distribution of the scores in the midterm and
final examinations of the students who took up College Physics handled by the researcher.
For each item in the test, the frequency of students who answered it correctly was
recorded and the equivalent percentage was computed (refer to Appendices T and U).
These items were classified according to topic as found in the Table of Specifications
(TOS) (see Appendices H to Q). The topics are coded for easier tabulation and recording.
The total number of items per topic was used in tabulating the frequency counts and
percentages of students who got 50% and above of the total items per topic considered
Mastered. The topics that fall to the category Not Mastered and considered the LMT
(topics where students got a percentage below 50%) are included in the development of the
SIM in College Physics. The basis for choosing the 50% level of mastery was the rating
system (college level) as stipulated in the PSU Code which considers 50% level of success
The summary of the percentage of students who mastered the topics in College
Physics (got 50% and above) during the last 5 years (from the 1st semester AY 2008-2009
to1st semester AY 2012-2013) with a total of 151 students is shown in Table 1. The detailed
computations for each year and the overall computations in determining the LMT are found
on Appendices V to AA.
Table 1 also presents the 8 out of the 12 topics with percentage below 50%
considered as the LMT and included in the SIM. The 8 topics (plus 1) making up the 9
LMT in the SIM are as follows: Measurement (SIM #1), Vectors (SIM #2), Motion (SIM
#3), Free-fall (SIM #4), Center of Gravity (SIM #5), Projectile Motion (SIM #6),
Momentum and Impulse (SIM #7), Work, Power, Energy, and Simple Machines (SIM #8),
The topic Center of Gravity (SIM #5) even though not considered as a separate topic in
the course syllabus was added because the researcher deemed it necessary to master other
related topics like that of projectile motion, momentum and impulse, and rotational
motion. The researcher believes that adding this topic will enhance the learning and
mastery of the related topics as mentioned. The students will surely enjoy doing the
activities in this topic while appreciating the importance of developing their sense of
