INTRODUCTION

 A Tesla Coil is a circuit that generates a high voltage, high

frequency electromagnetic field even from a low voltage DC
source.

 Slayer exciter is simplest version of tesla coil as slayer

exciter requires only some basic components(transistor,
resistor, a primary coil and a secondary coil) and also it is
does not produce much heat because it consumes less
power.

 A Tesla coil is a two stage transformer which high voltage,

high frequency, power generator, primarily built for conducting
experiments and to observe phenomenon associated with
alternating electricity.

 Resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate with

larger amplitude at some frequencies than at others. These
are known as the system's resonant frequencies (or
resonance frequencies). At these frequencies, even small
periodic driving forces can produce large amplitude
oscillations.
Resonant Circuit:
If a capacitor is placed across an inductor and voltage applied, you
will have a resonant circuit. As the capacitor discharges, it sends
current into the inductor that stores this as energy in its magnetic
field. But as the capacitor discharges, the current into the inductor
also diminishes. This causes its magnetic field to collapse and
generate an opposing voltage back into the capacitor, allowing the
cycle to start all over again. The number of times that this 'back
and forwards' cycle happens per second, is the circuit's resonant
frequency, expressed in Hertz (Hz).
Components:

 ENAMELED COPPER WIRE(L=20 M, D=.3mm).

 Transistor – 2N2222A.
 RESISTANCE – 22K OHM.
 Switch
 CELL – 9V.
 PVC PIPE (12CM).
 CONNECTING WIRE

Primary Circuit:
The primary circuit consists of primary coil of few turns to
make primary inductance. Its one terminal connects with
collector of transistor and other terminal with battery. We
made 3-4 turns on primary side.
Secondary Circuit: The secondary coil is used with
the top load to create the secondary LC circuit. Magnet
wire is used to wind the coil. We made nearly 1100 turns
on secondary

Working:
The slayer exciter is a high voltage step up transformer, with an
output voltage high enough to create such an electric field, which
lightens up the fluorescent bulb.

Circuit Diagram:
 Turning the circuit on, R drives the base of the transistor Q
 Q turns on and drives current into the primary
 Of the transformer. The current is limited by the limited
available base current.
 The created magnetic field drives the secondary of the
transformer.
 The secondary voltage wants to grow large. But the tiny stray
capacitance on the output resists the change, although very
small, against the rise of the output end and so in return the
voltage on the other end of the transformer goes down,
pulling the base of the transistor low.
 Diode D prevents the base voltage to fall more than 0.7V
below ground, which in return pushes the output end of the
secondary high.
 The transistor turns off and so the magnetic field starts to
reduce.
 The base voltage rises again and Q turns on and the cycle
repeats.
Conclusion:

 Doing this project we conclude that with the help of this kind
of technology, wireless power transmission can be made
possible and this technology will help us in eradicating the
hazardous uses of electrical wires and huge power losses in
transmission.

 It is envisaged that wireless energy would be really

accomplished with the advantage of easy implementation
and cost effective i.e., cost of transmission and distribution
overhead would become less. In the long run, this could
reduce our society’s dependence on batteries, which are
currently heavy and expensive.
