democracy.

D – Discussion
As you did see from the video clip I just Demos and Kratos.
showed you democracy originates from
two greek words which are?

Demos means? People.

And Kratos means? Power.

So democracy basically means the rule

of the people.

And base from the video clip where did In Athens.

democracy start?

Okay so we’ll be talking about the

democratic intervention particularly here
in the Philippines.

So what is democracy? Based from A government in which the supreme power

Merriam dictionary please read class is vested in the people and exercised by
them directly or indirectly through system of
representation usually involving periodically
held free elections.
Basically, one of the common example of
that is our election. There we might not
have the right to vote for a law but we
have the right to vote a candidate to
make a law for us.

So since our current president is Rodrigo

Duterte, let’s talk about the democracy
under his administration.

So what are the democratic practices in Free elections.

the Philippines?

Okay so as I’ve said a while ago, all of

the Filipinos have the right to vote. The
Philippine presidential and vice-
presidential was held on May 9, 2016, as
part of the 2016 general election.

The election have given Filipino citizens

who are above 18 years old to vote. The
Filipinos don’t need any credentials to
vote. This gives the power for Filipino
citizens to vote and choose the most
applicable president.

Next is the separation of church and

state.

It was during Cory Aquino’s presidency

when the separation of state and church
began, and until this time, this
democratic practice was still apparent.

Well you see class from a long time

before, especially In the time of Spanish
here in the Philippines the one governing
our country is actually the church. They
have the power to dictate and make the
law. But that was totally changed during
the term of Cory Aquino.

And then we have this protesting. Which

turn out to be the one of the most
evident democratic practice in the
Philippines, it helps Filipinos to inform
and suggest for country development.

When protesting, many issues have been

known for many people, and one of the
most controversial topics is the EJK or
the extra judicial killing. It means killing
suspects without the proper process of
the law.

So what are the undemocratic practices In Duterte’s administration, he has the anti-
in the Philippines? One there is the illegal drug campaign, which is the most
Philippine drug war. Kindly please read. controversial topic in the Philippines.

Yes it would probably be controversial Because of this campaign, many Filipino

because he is already violating a humans civilians are being affected by EJK, and this
right. Okay next. brings threat to Filipino citizens.

So example of EJK:
When a victim is abducted and salvaged.
When a victim is killed on the spot.

Those where the example of EJK. And

many Filipinos have protested against it,
however there were still civilians who
were killed.

The Filipinos justice system was not

implemented because of lacking due
process. Which is getting into anti-people
and anti-democratic system.

Kindly read this one. There are lots of democratic practices

compare to undemocratic practices in the
Philippines under Duterte’s administration.
In his SONA, he also stated that he does not
care about human rights and cares about
human lives, and this challenged the EJK as
a way of helping many people by killing the
drug addicts who is more capable of
destruction and to prevent moral actions of
drug addicts.

Okay our president said it himself No.

already that he doesn’t care about
human rights. Tell me, is the president
showing a practice of democracy?

Why? Because of EJK. Killing suspects with no due

process of the law.

Okay very good.
