Lessons Learned

 Importance of Data Gathering, Encoding, Maintenance

 techniques in data gathering, encoding, correction and
maintenance are being developed as we go along
 importance of the utilization of the data gathered were
realized especially in the analysis of the distribution
system
 improved understanding of the distribution system
 The Segregation of Distribution System Loss should not
only be taken as a regulatory requirement but also as an
opportunity to further improve the DX system.
 Data requirements may be difficult at the beginning but
the expected output will bring positive results.

18
Recoverable Rate of Distribution System Losses
Next Steps
 Complete the remaining areas not covered in the
study. We were only able to cover 98%.
 Go Back and validate the Distribution Database.
Check for inaccuracies.
 Submission of data requirements to the Energy
Regulatory Commission
 Implement a more detailed loss reduction
program based on the segregated DSL: i.e.
 Sizing of transformers
 Sizing of Secondary conductors
 Etc.

National Consultative Workshop on Establishment of Caps on the

19
Recoverable Rate of Distribution System Losses
Conclusion

 The Segregation of DSL must be pursued

especially for the Distribution Utilities so that the
operational efficiency envisioned by RA 9136 will
be achieved.

 BENECO is now comfortable that we can meet the

ERC requirements if the Guidelines will be
promulgated.
