1. Research on the internet the use of precast concrete elements in the

following types of structures;
1.1Precast Prestressed Concrete Bridges

1.2Precast concrete elements in buildings (you may cover

horizontal and vertical elements i.e. walls and floor slabs)

. Give a 2 page hand written report with your findings discussing:

a. The form of structure and types of elements for at least 2 examples from
the structures indicated in 1.1 & 1.2. ( 2 marks)
b. For the examples in a. above or any other, give a comparison of the
described construction techniques compared with in situ concrete or other
construction media like steel or timber. (4 marks)
c. Describe construction resources required to execute the project with
precast elements from the beginning, i.e. the fabrication of the precast
elements to completion of the structure in which there are a part of on
site. ( 4 marks)
