1. Introduction

This method statement has been prepared on the basis of the tender information as issued and
gives an indication of our general approach to the construction and management of the project.

2. Scope of work

 The purpose of this method statement is to explain the proper procedure on how to prepare
and Cast the Foundation, without injuries.

7. Personnel requirements & their Designated Responsibilities

 HSE Engineer – To do the regular site inspection in order to make sure that all time proper
safety measures have been taken prior and during the work.

Proper evaluation of the reports from HSE Officer to be done and action to be taken.
 Foreman: To supervise the site works, control of manpower, equipments and ensures quality
and safety procedures are implemented as required.
 Surveyor: To check the limits of excavation, to check the levels and alignments and to locate
existing services ahead of foundation.
 Operators: To operate the machineries on site and follow safety procedures as required.

8. Safety Hazards and Risks

 Manual handling of shutters, reinforcing bars etc.


 Cement burns from wet cement.
 Arm and back strain for steel fixers.

Precautions:

 Workers must be provided with safe access to the work.


 In addition to the above suitable sign board shall be displayed and sign board to be moved
forward as work progresses.
 All the safety regulations, statutory rules, applicable laws of COMPANY will be complied.
 The CONTRACTOR takes the full responsibility of all safety measurement in accordance to the
approved HSE plan.
 Provides traffic routes keeping apart pedestrians and vehicles.
 Truck will be instrumented with Audible reverse signal, hand-held brakes, Earthlings.

9. Procedure:
1. Preparation of Concreting, steel cutting and bending:
As per the construction program and the priority, the cutting and bending of steel reinforcement
for that particular structural element will commence as per the approved shop drawings and
bar bending schedule.
 Steel bending and cutting will be done at our factory. Steel cage will be made as per
approved drawing.
 Steel fixing to be done as per approved shop drawing.
 At site, marking will be done for foundation.

 After marking dimensions will be checked to make sure excavation will be done as per
approved drawing.
 Then interlock tiles will be removed and will be stacked on designated area at site for re
fixing.
 Then soil will be excavated manually man power. And will be stored on designated area
at site for backfilling.
 After all excavation, level will be checked for each foundation and will be made sure that
is as per approved drawing.
 Blinding of surface will be done as per approved drawings and approved type of concrete.
 Spacer block of approved type will be used to maintain the cover.
 Steel cage will be lowered in excavated pit.
 Anchor bolts for steel column will be fixed with wooden base plate template to ensure
their level and alignment.
 All reinforcement must be cleared to ensure that it is free from all oil, dust and deleterious
materials.
 Ensure and coordinate with MEP staff for any MEP works required on the area as per
approved drawings.
 Fix the form such as; supports, sleeves etc., if any.
 The concreting are as must be arranged with necessary equipment or tools for concreting
use such as vibrators, power float machine, shovel etc.
 Skilled and unskilled labor shall need to use safety requirements such as safety helmet,
safety shoes, goggles, gloves, vest etc.

2. Concrete pouring:

 After completing above procedure concrete will be poured for foundation base. (by pump
or manually as per area’s ease of access)
 Compact the concrete properly by using mechanical vibrators.
 After pouring, next day formwork for neck of foundation will be done, ensuring its
dimensions and levels should be as per approved drawing.
 After completing form work, concrete will be poured for neck.
 Next day form work will be removed and back filling & compaction will be done.

 After compaction of backfilling, interlock tiles will be fixed and housekeeping of all area
will be done.
10. Housekeeping and Cleanup.
 Housekeeping will be carried out at the end of each working day to remove surplus / waste
construction and unsuitable soils materials from the jobsite.
 Final site cleanup will be done on completion of the backfill works to leave the site free of
debris and surplus materials.
11. Aamendment and additional information
(a) Amendments to the method statement: Should any part of this method statement
require amendment or alteration, this must be notified for agreement by all relevant
parties prior to it being enforced.
(b) Communicate method statement: Communicate to all relevant parties (via toolbox talk)
and ensure it is signed by all personnel.
