Learning Insights: The different concepts introduced to me in NCM 106 includes: the concepts
regarding critical care. These concepts are important to be discussed in class so that we will be
able to relate it to the area especially when having duty at the medical ward and even at the
ICU. We must establish in depth knowledge and understanding about the concepts and
establish full rapport and cooperation of the patient so that at the end of the day we will be
able to provide holistic care.

Hindering Factors: Factors that may hinder me in doing my part in the subject is when I do not
fully understand the concepts as well as not being able to follow the flow of discussion
especially when the pacing is too fast. But never the less even if there are a lot of hindering
factors present I must take the responsibility to manage my time as well as trying my best to
cope up with the situations as well as trying to read in advance especially the topics that are
difficult to understand.

Facilitating factors: A well-organized discussion will help me understand concepts better. As

well as a well-rested mind would also help me analyze whatever concepts that are being
introduced at the same time when there are less requirements. Also, when the teacher is
approachable at times when questions and clarifications are being asked regarding the topic.

Suggestions: I believe that the students must be given more time to do requirements so that
the pressure would be lesser and so would have more time to prepare. It is also wise that we
are given enough rest so that we do not get so overloaded with all the concepts that were
given.

concepts regarding Cancer. These onco concepts are important to be discussed in class so that
we will be able to relate it to the area especially when having duty at the palliative ward. We
must establish in depth knowledge and understanding about the disorder and establish full
rapport and cooperation of the patient so that at the end of the day we will be able to provide
holistic care as well as the best end-of-life care so that their quality of life will improve.

Hindering Factors: Factors that may hinder me in doing my part in the subject is when I do not
fully understand the concepts especially that these concepts are quite complicated as well as
not being able to follow the flow of discussion especially when the pacing is too fast. But never
the less even if there are a lot of hindering factors present I must take the responsibility to
manage my time as well as trying my best to cope up with the situation and also read in
advance especially those concepts that are too difficult to understand.

Facilitating factors: A well-organized discussion will help me understand concepts better. As

well as a well-rested mind would also help me analyze whatever concepts that are being
introduced at the same time when there are less requirements so we do not get overloaded
with so much work.

Suggestions: I still believe that the students must be given more time to do requirements so
that the pressure would be lesser and so would have more time to prepare. It is also wise that
we are given enough rest so that we do not get so overloaded with all the concepts that were
given. And that the professors be more considerate when setting the due date so that the

Learning Insights: The skills and concepts introduced to me in the clinical area (duty) are the
different skills in the emergency room as well as the different diseases in the medical ward.
We, student nurses must always be alert with the circumstances that come our way during our
stay at the clinical area especially at the emergency room considering that we must have a
clinical eye (when assessing patients in the emergency room). It is also important that we
establish trust and rapport not only with our patients but as well as the staff nurses in the area
so that at the end of the day we are at ease in doing the things we need to accomplish.
Hindering Factors: Factors that may affect me in accomplishing my task in the clinical area
would be when I am stressed out with the requirements I need to finish at the same time
when I am not well rested before my shift. And lastly I get so bothered when I do not follow
the skill being taught by my clinical instructor.
Facilitating factors: I believe that a well-organized working area and a well-organized way of
teaching skills and clinical techniques can help me understand skills better. I also believe that
when I am well-rested and I am not stressed out.
Suggestions: I believe that we must provide adequate time for the student to rest and prepare
for whatever task they need for the day. We allot enough time for them to prepare for their
drug study as well as teaching care plans and nursing care plans or even emergency room care
plan. It is also important that their clinical instructors would be considerate enough in setting
the deadline for submission of requirements so that we have enough time to finish whatever
information needed.

circumstances that come our way during our stay at Bokod and we must learn how to jive with
different people in the community especially respecting their culture and. It is also important
that we establish trust and rapport not only with our patients but as well as the barangay
officials in the area so that at the end of the day we are at ease in doing the things we need to
accomplish and so that we can coordinate different tasks.
Hindering Factors: Factors that may affect me in accomplishing my task in the community
would be when I am stressed out with the requirements I need to finish at the same time
when I am not well rested and also not being able to understand their dialect. And lastly I get
so bothered when I cannot follow or understand what they are trying to express.

Learning Insights: During the finals, I learned different cases in the ward as well as different
cases of patients at the palliative ward. With my experience it is important that when dealing
with people in the palliative ward we have to understand their behavior and have complete
patience to deal with their different personalities. It is also important that we ensure safety
and privacy among our patients. And lastly we must always be prepared with the different
abrupt circumstances that might come our way in the area. And trying to consider to still
improve their quality of life as we render holistic end-of-life care.
Hindering Factors: Factors that may affect me in accomplishing my task in the clinical area
would be when I am stressed out with the requirements I need to finish at the same time

Learning Insights: Concepts I learned from skills lecture and RD are: the concepts on how to
transport victims safely during emergency situations as well as looking into the safety of the
patient. We must familiarize ourselves from the different carries and transport methods and
that we need to consider the safety of the patient while we transport them. We follow certain
rules as we try to consider what type of transport method is to be used when carrying a
certain patient for a specific situation.
Hindering Factors: Factors that may hinder me in doing my part in the subject is when I do not
fully understand the concepts as well as not being able to follow the flow of discussion

Facilitating factors: I believe that a well-organized classroom and a well-organized way of
teaching can help me understand skills better. I also believe that when I am well-rested and I
am not stressed and the allotted time is just enough that is when I can easily cope up with
whatever skills are taught by the teacher

Suggestions: I still believe that the students must be given more time to do requirements as
well as the skills during RD so that the pressure would be lesser and so would have more time
to prepare. It is also wise that we are given enough rest so that we do not get so overloaded

Learning Insights: Skills I learned from Skills Lecture and RD are gastric lavage. We must know
the different aseptic techniques to be able to avoid breaking sterility in the procedure. These
are needed to be administered following the proper technique so that we avoid harming the
patient and at the same time we provide the best holistic care that our patients need.
Hindering Factors: Factors that may hinder me in doing my part in the subject is when I do not
fully understand the concepts as well as not being able to follow the flow of discussion

Learning Insights: Skills I learned from Skills Lecture and RD are continuous closed bladder
irrigation, peritoneal dialysis, cytotoxic spill management and megacode. These skills must be
mastered and be done and taught with care so that at the end of the day we avoid harming
our patient as well as ourselves. It is important that we follow every protocol given so that we
provide the appropriate function of the skill.

REFLECTION

(Prelims, Midterms, Finals)

My mind was well refreshed with our Competency Appraisal subject. I have seen
where and what subject would I have to review again and how much I have retained
for the past 3 years I’ve been studying nursing. I enjoyed a lot of concepts regarding
OB and Pediatrics. I have remembered a lot of what I have studied and some of what
I have forgotten was lectured again which helped me in the exams and quizzes our
instructors gave. It also helped me understand some of the concepts I was
questionable, or I had a hard time understanding about before especially
community nursing. Though, our CA in community nursing helped me in our duty in
the community. I believe that these concepts will be a great help especially when
we are about to take the Board exams next year. This is a great preparation since a
lot of concepts are still needed to be remembered and enhanced.
I believe that a well-organized classroom and a well-organized way of teaching can
help me understand skills better. I also believe that when I am well-rested and I
am not stressed and the allotted time is just enough that is when I can easily cope
up with whatever concepts are taught by the teacher. And lastly an approachable
and considerate professor.

In our Organization & Management subject, I have learned a lot from our
instructor, he gave us advices that we were able to use when we become a leader
in our group or when we decide on something regarding on our group works, tasks
to be done, or household chores during the community. It also helped me
understand how the nursing system works in the hospital, how schedules were
made, to whom to report an incident that occurred, what values should we have
when we become leaders, and how to support or assist our staffs. Lastly I learned
how I can manage my time effectively.
I believe that a well-organized classroom and a well-organized way of teaching can
help me understand skills better. I also believe that when I am well-rested and I
am not stressed and the allotted time is just enough that is when I can easily cope
up with whatever concepts are taught by the teacher. And lastly an approachable

In our Nursing Jurisdiction subject, I got to understand how nurses should be careful
of their actions and how they could save their selves when they are done wrong
during their duties. I also got to know the laws that governs the nursing profession
and how it could maintain the ethical values of the nurses, the benefits of being a
nurse, and the requirements to be a nurse. Our Nursing Jurisprudence helped me
understand how we should always maintain our ethical values for our patients and
for ourselves. As well as how we can be effective patient advocates.
REFLECTION

(Prelims, Midterms, Finals)

In our Palliative Care subject, I got to see another side of the nursing care, I got to
see how challenging it could be for the patient and family to accept death. I got to
also see the challenges imposed to a palliative nurse when he or she gets to care for
a patient who is terminally ill. It was hard for me to sink in the idea of death every
time it is said or lectured in this subject, it makes me reflect to all of my actions
towards my parents and my grandmothers. This subject helped me realize that I
should be giving all of what I got for my parents before it is too late. It helped me in
the clinical duties especially in palliative ward, where I got to take care of patients
who was not responding well to her treatments that is why I gave my best to take
good care of her during the 3 days that I was with her because I value life and I could
see how much end-of-life care is very important.
