1. Subject Nacelle – Engine – Installation of the Thrust Reverser Cowl Opening System
(COS) to the engine
This procedure provides instructions to install the Thrust Reverser Cowl Opening System
COS attachments to the new Engine COS Support Bracket P/N 612C9505-001 (LHS) /
612C9506-001 (RHS) during installation of engines listed below per AMM Task 71-00-51-
400-803-A.

NOTE: Reference is based on New CML code (Old CML Code). New CML code is
associated to several products without specific code for each product. If the

NOTE: When the strap is unloaded the half thrust reverser cowl is
opened at approximately an angle of 10 degrees from the
closed position. The SCALE 1000 KG (2200 LB) indicates
approximately 410 KG.
(3) Installation of the T/R COS attachments to the new Engine COS Support Bracket
P/N 612C9505-001 (LHS) / 612C9506-001 (RHS).
(a) Installation of the Thrust Reverser COS Actuator.
NOTE: This procedure is given for the Left Thrust Reverser. It is also
applicable to the Right Thrust Reverser.
1 Clean all the COS attachment parts to the Thrust Reverser with a
Textile-Lint Free Cotton (Material No. 14SBA1) made moist with
Diestone DLS (Material No. 08BAA9).
2 Make sure that the finish on the threads of the bolts are not damaged.
3 Put the COS actuator in position.
4 Connect the COS actuator to the Thrust Reverser bracket. Refer to
AMM Task 78-36-51-400-802-A, subtask 78-36-51-420-054-A,
Chapter A. (4).
5 Connection of the COS actuator to the new LH Core COS Support
Bracket (P/N 612C9505-001) (Refer to Illustration 2):
NOTE: This procedure is given for the LH Core COS Support Bracket
(P/N 612C9505-001) but it is also applicable to the RH Core COS
Support Bracket (P/N 612C9506-001).
a Clean the new bushing (P/N FA202256-001) with Textile-Lint Free
Cotton (Material No. 14SBA1) made moist with Diestone DLS
(Material No. 08BAA9).
b Install the new bushing (P/N FA202256-001) on the new LH Core
COS Support Bracket (P/N 612C9505-001).
c Put the actuator in position on the new LH Core COS Support
Bracket (P/N 612C9505-001).
d Clean the new bolt (P/N FA202257-001), new washer (P/N
NAS1149C0863R) and new nut (P/N MS9358-13 or AS9359-13)
with Textile-Lint Free Cotton (Material No. 14SBA1) made moist
with Diestone (Material No. 08BAA9).
e Install the new bolt (P/N FA202257-001).
(5) Close up
(a) Closing of the half thrust reverser cowl with GSE THRUST REVERSER
HOISTING FRAME 2 (P/N 98N7830H022-000).
1 Close the half thrust reverser cowl with the chain hoist.
(b) Remove the THRUST REVERSER HOISTING FRAME 2 (P/N
98N7830H022-000) from the thrust reverser cowl. Refer to the GSE
notice.
(c) Close the thrust reverser latches. Refer to AMM Task 78-36-00-410-806-A.
(d) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(g) Close the Fan Cowl Doors. Refer to AMM Task 71-13-00-410-803-A:
