information you provide in this application.

Guidance Notes
Job Description & Person Specification

General Guidance Notes:

Complete all sections of the application form and make sure that all the
information you provide is correct. If you provide false information or deliberately
omit any relevant facts, it may result in disqualification from the selection
process, or where the discovery is made after appointment, dismissal or other
disciplinary action.
Make sure that your application form arrives before the closing date, late
applications will not be accepted. Exceptions to this may be allowed in the case
of disabled applicants who receive information in a different format, or who have
difficulty in completing an application form. If you have difficulty in submitting an
application form you may submit a CV but this should contain the same
information we ask for on the application form.
Sign and date the application form to declare that the information you have
provided is accurate. If submitting the application form electronically, printing
your name is a declaration that the information is accurate.
Please note that CV’s will not be accepted as a substitute for any section of the
application form.

Sections relating to Education, Training & Qualifications

Complete these sections listing education and training commencing with your most
recent achievement or those you are currently working towards, detailing results and
dates. Where specific qualifications are required for the position this will be stated in the
Job Description and Person Specification.

Sections relating to Employment

Complete this section as fully as possible giving exact dates of previous employment,
including any unpaid or voluntary work, in chronological order commencing with most
recent employment. Where there are gaps in your employment please state the reasons
why (e.g. gap year, career break, unemployed etc.).
Section relating to Information in Support of your Application

In this section you should address each point on the Person Specification, providing
information, examples and evidence to illustrate how you meet the criteria for the job.
You must, therefore, give evidence which shows how you meet the specification. For
example, if the specification states ‘able to use initiative and work unsupervised’ it will
not be sufficient to say ‘I can work unsupervised and show initiative’. You must quote
examples of your work/life which demonstrate these attributes.

Remember that experience is not confined to paid work, mention any relevant
experience you may have acquired outside work, such as community, voluntary or
leisure interests.
